No jokes: Mickey Mania on the Megadrive had like an old granny spider boss that little me could not cope with. Pretty sure you actually just walked right and beat it or something in hindsight, but young me just couldn't get that, was in full fight or flight mode.

Sungazer last night is heavy favourite for gig of the year. 10/10 musicians but also mad fun vibe and plenty of crowd participation that wasn't annoyingly forced. Gutted these shorts and t-shirts combos weren't at the merch stand tho

@gralefrit.bsky.social You have to see these! A friend of mine has been collating a series of images entitled "Things my students have written turned into Philomena Cunk quotes" and they're just glorious.

Philomena Cunk against a collection of classical statues. "Antigone's death is even more tragic than it actually is, which makes her a tragic hero"

Philomena Cunk looking thoughtful. "Goya continued to paint tapestries until 1792 when serious illness left him dead for life"

Philomena Cunk looking thoughtfully into the distance. "Society is slowly becoming more contemporary now"

Philomena Cunk looking into camera on a beach. "Diderot's Tahiti represents a typical male fantasy in which attractive young women are eager to engage in sexual activity with the French"

Anyway thank you for coming to my TED Talk, one measly playtrough and I've stuck it back in the box and looking to pick up complete DW8 and SW5 on Steam. 👴🏻

After all that though, it still feels like a more worthwhile attempt at a reboot compared to Samurai Warriors 5, at least this has tried something new for the series even if it hasn't clicked with me. SW5 basically gutted a whole load of content just for a soft narrative reboot with the same engine.

Gameplay wise; The huge battles just become an absolute mess as well, actually felt more block-locked in these than I ever did in the old ones with rigid combo structures and none of the skills to use. And the amount of times that the action pauses to show you a tactic or action from elsewhere 👎👎👎

And having more cutscenes than a Square rpg. Also annoying to me that they've finally focussed and expanded on the pre-3k era and there's no new characters added cos why would they when you're just playing as mute rpg hero? Would have been cool to see some new faces.

Like I get the formula was jaded for a lot of folks, but somehow basically turning into parry mash with a bare bones Ubisoft experience in between levels was not massively fun. Controlling one single bland character and going through inconsequential dialog choices for the whole game 👎👎👎

Finally finished a playthrough of DW Origins, and I do not get how people are loving it. Probably just a different perspective of people who liked the old ones, but this feels worse than pretty much any iteration I can remember (I skipped 9 cos I could tell that was doodoo from the get go)

Outdoor gigs in Scotland, a good idea? When the rain stays off aye Geordie Greep's band is 10/10, could do with another album of material but all great musicians. Was not expecting the jazz-ish equivalent of Slipknot with 2 drummers and percussion

Getting some Greek scran before a gig and the place seems to be playing Greek rap metal or something, I'm down

Sioux Falls Pride happened today and there are some thing to love about my hometown.

A white pick up with a sign reading "Quilting Allies" and the slogan "Trans rights or I bites." In the bed of the pick up is a person in an inflatable T-Rex costume with a sign reading "Protect trans kids or I'll eat you!"

You'll get another uncomfortable pad with cramped together buttons that you can't press without your right hand being impaled by the body, and a d-pad that can't do diagonals right, AND YOU'LL LIKE IT

Dr. Who is a terrifying premise. Don't like the idea of an alien that can go any where any time but still chooses to mostly hang out with the British.

And extra points to anyone who can provide evidence of good country music. Cos outside of a few moodier, more folky southern gothic type songs, I'm convinced that country in its entirety is a giant steaming pile.

It's an absolute ballache to find new music outside of your bubble due to everything being overly-algorithmic and reinforcing what you already listen to. So if anyone has any good hip-hop, jazz or electronic recommendations, or any other general bangers, fire them here plz!
