This gets said constantly, but it worth reiterating: Games Workshop being bigger than fishing is important to shout about because you wouldn't know it from government talking points, which are rarely about anything creative or artistic. Growth won't involve fish or steel, it will involve goblins.

“GOTTA LEARN AI OR BE LEFT BEHIND.” Good. Fuck off! Leave me behind! Enjoy your artbarf rapture, your janky Temu future. I’ll be back here looking at real birds and writing weird, also real, books.

Reading a book about Kerouac, Ginsberg, and Burroughs, and the wild characters who swirled around them. Fascinating stuff, but somehow, and despite a cameo by Kinsey, the author can't get his head around the concept of bisexuality.

This is why I told the transphobe on Piccadilly Gardens to fuck off, and why this year's Pride parade felt more emotional. I want to do more to help. I will do more to help. I just don't know what that will be yet.

I would spend far too much time, and possibly money, in the Old Shit shop.

Creepy flat cap transphobe was on Piccadilly Gardens again. So I told him to fuck off again.

I'd rather Google didn't stalk me through my phone, but the monthly round up of what they've watched me do is fascinating. Apparently, last month I went skiing for 4 miles. I'd love to know where and when they think I did that, because I don't remember it.

It's October 1st, and one of my tomato plants finally decided to flower.

I think most of these are new since the last time I rode along the Fallowfield Loop. #graffiti

Two pieces of graffiti, side by side. One says 'Dances with the daffodils' around cartoon animals. The other, 'Quit your job!', in a speech ballot over a pink cat(?).

Graffiti on the Fallowfield loop- "NO RAIN NO GAIN".
Obviously done during one of the heatwaves.

Graffiti on the Fallowfield Loop of a skull, blue against a colourful background.

Graffiti on the Fallowfield Loop. "DAVE"

How do we incentivize people to paint wizards on their vans again I haven’t seen a wizard van in a decade and it feels like we lost something precious Can we offer up a tax credit? Little bags of shrooms? Start a wizard van painting program at vocational schools?

Fuck ChatGPT flyers. The future is broadsheets.

A crowded broadsheet with way too many fonts. It says:
Forget ChatGPT Flyers
Say it with
Broadsheets
Unlimited fonts
Stretch them
Or cram a really long sentence into one line for no good reason
No whitespace
Mix capital and lowercase
Pointing hands
(They're called manicules!)
Don't be left behind
Broadsheets are the future

I can be around sucker for quirky packaging.

Engine organic gin, which comes in a tiny that looks like a vintage oil can. Don't ask me if it's any good. I don't drink gin. I've been meaning to try it, to see if I like it, and this pushed me over the edge into buying some.

Autumn squash, which is shaped like a video game mushroom. I could get a plumber to jump on it and see what happens, but I'd rather eat it.

I just realised that I have taken Ike A Rat to New York, London, and Paris*, and must now take him on a trip to Munich so he can talk about pop music. *and Budapest and Tokyo, and other places I've currently forgotten.

Pompeii is a UNESCO world heritage site not because it was remarkable in its prime, but because it survived to our era untouched: one moment, preserved for all time. But future generations won't know what OUR world was like unless we do the same. This is why we MUST bury Toronto with a volcano

Elite was released 42 years ago. This space trading open world game is considered to be the forerunner of many modern games, as well as being an important milestone in the history of space sci-fi. Art by Philip Castle🔽

Box art by Philip Castle.

The image is dominated by the game's title, "ELITE," rendered in a bold, golden 3D font with large, stylized wings, resembling a prestigious pilot's insignia. The scene depicts key elements from the game:

The Cobra Mk III: The sleek, saucer-shaped ship in the foreground is the player's starting vessel, the legendary Cobra Mk III.

Coriolis Station: The massive, geometric structure is a Coriolis space station, the rotating hubs of trade and commerce where players would dock.

Day 6. With that,I leave this project, and will be doing a more urban job next week. I've been promised updates, and will post them as I get them.

Shed at the start of the day, looking glorious after yesterday's work.

Shed at noon, with face plate and some more bracing.

I’ve worn a grubby RNLI cap for decades. I sound London, but I was born in Truro and I was a basically feral (Gen X) kid wandering the coast path with a dog until sunset for a lot of my early life. The lifeboats are in the fabric like trawlers and farms and pasties and fish and chips.

Stone built shed without a roof, waiting for another day's work.

Pile of timber, ends cut at an angle, which will become rafters.

Stone built shed after another day's work. It doesn't look like much, but there has been progress here, as well as in the lumber pile.
