Go watch the new TAS that just released for Vs. Super Mario Bros. Warpless! It was made by active SMB community members that worked very hard on optimizing this game, and it's a REALLY cool TAS showcasing some tricks we've never seen before 👀 Check it out! Link: www.youtube.com/watch?v=YSlK...

This Just In: Retro Mario Speedrunner (who literally has a sub 9 in SMB2U any%) completes a 2U All Levels playthrough for the very first time. We don't know why or how he has never done this before..... but lowkey we get it this game's hard (curse you limited continues) 💀 This took too long to do 😭

Metroid Zero Mission!!!! Glad I finally played through this one! Some of the item locations were brutal as hell to obtain, no shot I was getting everything without a walkthrough. Overall short but fantastic entry :3

Yeah ig I just never really talked to people about it. My completion list includes NES Metroid, Super, Fusion, Dread, & all 4 Prime games. Started Zero Mission a while back but meant to play through it. Hunters I haven't played, and I never owned Samus Returns (played a tiny bit of Metroid 2 GB)

Seeing so many people online become excited over Metroid in 2026, with several people finally giving the franchise a shot and loving it, brings a tear to my eye. I used to dream for moments like this

One of the more specifically brutal things about this year has been how most of the SMB friends I made early on in my speedrunning life have become such drastically different people, to where they've entirely broken off into something away from the game, and away from me. I need new friends. :(

(As an aside, my physical health has been quite rocky but slowly improving. I believe I will be in good shape by October, but nothing is guaranteed. I will do my best to hang in there until then ^_^)

Still sad I couldn't attend Megaplex this year from getting ill at the worst time, but I've gotten a lot better physically as a result of resting. So that's good at least, definitely still nervous about going back to work tomorrow though Hoping I can find more purpose in life moving forward ❤️

Spiker @spiker945.bsky.social · 21/08/2026

you do not understand the absolute joy I have seeing someone finally make something SMB1 related with completely in-game accurate SMB1 physics this is incredible, bravo

Spiker @spiker945.bsky.social · 18/08/2026

Not good irl update: While my hands/arms have gotten a lot better lately, now I'm dealing with sickness that I've struggled to rest with. Pushed my body too far the past few days and I almost fainted trying to work my job today. Resting now, but I'll have to miss most of Megaplex this year :(

Important update: I hate to do this, but I'm taking an indefinite hiatus from speedrunning & video gaming in general. My hands/wrist/arms have developed significant strain from physical labor, & I must back away from gaming to heal. Reach out to me if you have any questions, ily all so much 💔

Spiker @spiker945.bsky.social · 05/08/2026

Slight update: I was able to convince my manager to move me into a different department, & the work I started doing today certainly felt a lot better for everything except the last 2 hours of it. I'm doing stretches/breaks constantly & taking lots of precautions, but it's still hard on my body... :(

010

Spiker @spiker945.bsky.social · 04/08/2026

Definitely will try to, any recommendations on which ways I can do so?

Spiker @spiker945.bsky.social · 04/08/2026

I'm literally slowly developing right hand/arm muscle weakness & pain, and I have no way out of continuing to work the job that's causing it to be this bad in the first place. Can't even guarantee I'll see a doctor this week :( Please let me survive this week, let alone this month...

Haven't posted here in a bit, so wanted to share an IRL update: Starting in July, I will *finally* be employed full-time!!! It was a mess trying to balance a job offer I received while I was also waiting on a DIFFERENT COMPANY for a SEPARATE role, but I'm glad it got figured out :3 We push onward.

I forgot to post about it, but I recently attended SMB1WC at Socal Gaming Expo in California (same place as CTWC) and it was AMAZING! I redeemed myself hard from last year in the any% races (got 5th/15) & had so much fun hanging out with all the SMB people :3 (Tetris was hype too) Until next year!!

Spiker @spiker945.bsky.social · 31/05/2026

Sorry no video 😭 I was doing this without recording since I wasn't expecting to actually get it. I'll try to get it on video soon, potentially do it in an 8-4 IL PB, who knows 👀

000

Spiker @spiker945.bsky.social · 31/05/2026

Very random, but I want to post that I FINALLY got my 1st ever 8-C wall jump frame save full room in SMB1 8-4. This singular frame save in 8-4 IL has alluded me for so long because I couldn't figure out how to actually perform the FFA (falling fast accel) technique needed to achieve it. Until now :3

This is so peak, great work

010

Spiker @spiker945.bsky.social · 29/05/2026

If somebody told me: "You will PB in SMB1 Warpless by a single frame somehow" I would respond with: "....yeah that's some bullshit that'd happen to me 💀" 19:10.306 what is life man

Spiker @spiker945.bsky.social · 19/05/2026

Forgot to post this because Bluesky was down, but I got 11:02 in SMB3 any% No Wrong Warp today!!! Was doing attempts with the 0 hands manip & this run was too far behind when going down the pipe to get the manip, BUT I GOT NO HANDS ANYWAY by sheer luck LOL 1st PB with no hands, sub 11 is next :3

050

Spiker @spiker945.bsky.social · 16/05/2026

"it was at this moment he knew, he fucked up" 0 hands manip for this category is an absolute lifesaver LOL, but go figure my 1st run to BC on strong PB pace dies like this 😔 oh well, still more gaming to do

010

Spiker @spiker945.bsky.social · 15/05/2026

Best run was a 5:05.3, worst run was a 5:33.4 (died in 1-2 😭), average was a 5:11.2

020

Spiker @spiker945.bsky.social · 15/05/2026

To prep for me attending the SMB1 tournament at the con CTWC is at this year, I decided to pick up the run of "11x any%" which is literally doing any% 11 times in a row 💀 It's weird but very good for developing consistency for the event. This run got me a 57:39 (after retime) Could be worse ig

171

Spiker @spiker945.bsky.social · 13/05/2026

Ok I meant to say 1-5 oops. Ep 1 was a 2 in 1 and I forgot lol

000

Spiker @spiker945.bsky.social · 13/05/2026

Regular Show: The Lost Tapes Ep 1-6 were fire, it's incredible that the show still manages to have the same on-point humor that the OG show had. Ep 2's animation was really rough tho I'm ngl, but the overall episodes were funny asf and kept the same Regular Show charm :D Looking forward to more 👀

Spiker @spiker945.bsky.social · 11/05/2026

I want to either go back or move forwards towards people and things I can look forward to being part of and share experiences with, because I don't really feel like I have that anymore :/

010

Spiker @spiker945.bsky.social · 11/05/2026

I hate to feel the need to post something like this, but Life as of late has been incredibly frustrating, so much of it feels like I've lost my sense of direction of where to go & what to do. I've desperately missed having people to earnestly talk to about life/feelings/goals, but idk who I have :(
