My grandad farmed in upstate New York, and his vehicle of choice for my whole living memory was an 80s El Camino. He did, after retirement and the turn of the century, buy a second-gen Dakota to get A/C and cruise control for trips to FL. He promptly lowered it.

Not being a KY resident, I'm not sure. If so, that makes the special a lot more relevant. A pure write-in is usually a heavy lift, even for someone with high name recognition like Massie. A good showing in a special with his name on the ballot would probably boost write-ins in Nov. 1/

The filing deadline for the Nov election was in Jan, and Massie ran for his House seat. He can't run for Senate in Nov. I don't know how plausible the concern is. Winning might raise his profile for a 2028 run, I guess? But I think it would also cost the Rs a seat in the House until January.

The explanation I've heard is that they're worried Massie would jump into a special election as an independent, either splitting the R vote or winning outright. I'm not sure how that would affect the Nov election, but MAGA doesn't want to boost him at all.

Trump is not the cause of this. He’s the ugly malignancy that has grown out of a political party that lost its collective mind decades ago. Citizens who think of themselves as Christians or otherwise good people should consider who they are standing with when they vote Republican.

No, especially not in uniform. DoD directive 1344.10 prohibits military members from engaging in a range of political activities, including fundraising and making political speeches. Voting, donating to candidates, and other activities are permitted out of uniform as individuals.

Servicemembers are prohibited by the UCMJ and service regulations from engaging in public political activity, especially while in uniform. Commissioned officers have additional restrictions on public criticism of the chain of command. It would be more surprising if there wasn't an investigation.
