Dental and vision "insurance" is, in reality, a prepay. Insurance companies can't profit because there isn't anyone paying into the plan who isn't also drawing out benefits. We actually need to take the profit out of healthcare and fund it for everyone through taxes on the wealthy & corporations.

Fascinating world of ancient #glass! #Roman dove-shaped vessels were used as perfume bottles. The liquid was sealed inside and the tip of the tail or the beak had to be broken to remove the perfume. This particular example, discovered in a first-century burial at Rovasenda, Italy, is...🧵1/2 🏺

Sometimes you see an artefact where myth, magic & reality all seem to converge… Behold, the Iron Age Torrs Pony Cap; pulled from a Scottish bog in the 19thC & dating to the 3rdC BC, the horns were still attached when found. Chariot ponies knew they were cool. National Museum Scotland #FindsFriday

While about the size of a real mouse, this bronze one actually weighs at least three times as much, clocking in at over 60 grams. 💪

Red slate dagger with a bear head, from Pyhäjoki, Finland. Neolithic Stone Age (c. 5200-1800 BCE). Found in a gravel pit excavation site. This artifact is well-preserved with no signs of wear. Perhaps a ritual implement?

This Zapotec ceramic artifact features a face split longitudinally to represent life and death. It encapsulates the ancient Mesoamerican concept of duality: life-death, day-night, rain-dry; not necessarily conflict, but complementary balance. The piece was found in Soyaltepec, Oaxaca, 500-800 CE.
