Primaries matter. Who we choose says a lot about what and who we value. Who we care for. Who matters. When so many of us struggle to get by, who we choose today will determine how hard they will fight for us. Support candidates that are union, and educator endorsed. www.edmnvotes.org/voter-guide/

We know an attack on our community when we see it. As a union we say: An injury to one is an injury to all. To our trans students, colleagues, & neighbors, we see you, stand with you, we fight alongside you!
Picture of a statement from the SPFE Executive Board, background colors of pink and blue.

Statement reads:
The decision by Justice Roberts’ Supreme Court to uphold state bans on transgender athletes participating in high school sports is very upsetting. While we have state protections in place in Minnesota to protect the rights of our transgender athletes to freely participate, we strongly condemn this decision, and the harm it will do to students across the country.

As educators we know the value extracurricular activities, like sports, the arts, and clubs afford our students. It goes beyond the activity itself and gives our youth a place to belong, be themselves, learn resilience, and practice the hard work of being together in community.

We know an attack on our community when we see it. We know that the goal is to pit us against each other, in the hope that we will ignore these authoritarian attacks on our community and our democracy. As a strong union we say: An injury to one is an injury to all.

To all of our trans students, colleagues, and neighbors, we see you, we stand with you, and we will continue to fight alongside you!

Every year public schools face a cycle of cuts. This year, as our students are recovering from Operation Metro Surge, SPPS is planning cuts to counsellors and English Learners. Please send a message to SPPS: No Cuts! secure.ngpvan.com/chCFDh874Eq0...

Yesterday, we joined tens of thousands to march. This am, ICE responded with violence. Alex was an ICU nurse, a union sibling, & an observer who stepped in to help. This is a union state. We will continue to show up, to watch, to document, and fight ICE is not welcome here.

The only thing that has changed since November budget forecast is that Trump is now the President. He has cost our state $160 million in his first 50 days in office.
“Today’s forecast tells us that we in Minnesota have made sound decisions that put us in the best possible position to face the challenges ahead. In this present moment, we have a surplus, a stable economy, and the strongest budget reserve in state history.

The DFL will continue to stand up for our kids, schools, families, hospitals, veterans, people with disabilities, farmers, and seniors. And we will pass a balanced, equitable budget that does everything we can to protect Minnesotans from Trump’s chaos and Elon Musk’s chainsaw.’

Today, Minnesotans showed up. HF 12 - a bill seeking to limit the full participation of trans kids in sports - failed to secure the 68 votes needed and did not pass in the Minnesota House. It’s a win for all of us who believe in inclusion! Thank you to everyone who showed up today!

We are proudly affiliated w/EdMN Families look 2 us to stand up for them, & our public schools. Authoritarians & billionaires pit us against each other so they can profit, & we use the power of contracts & solidarity to call out these tactics & protect our communities, & the public good.

Compared to 2017, it feels like most of the institutions we count on to protect democracy are weaker now. The courts. The media. The Democratic Party. One institution, however, is *without doubt* in a stronger position to fight fascism now than in 2017: the American labor movement. Consider...
