#xivwomenweek day 5 - Amid flora and crystals 🌷💠

an illustration of ryne and gaia. In the foreground, the two of them are sitting in the middle of a field of pink flowers, with the crystal tower visible behind a hill covered in flowers, while a close-up of their portraits, eyes closed, fills the background. Ryne's expression and position echo my earlier minfilia entry as well !!

Cosplayers love getting asked for photos, just ask them!

050

Folks please don't take photos of strangers and post them without asking, even if the stranger is cosplaying

150

hi cosplayer here, this photo looks candid, my advice for anyone reading this is to please ask cosplayers for photos and tell them you like their cosplays in person if you see them. Traveling to costume events can be stressful because a lot of the general public will take photos without asking first

Yeah some of my favorite actual plays were ones I started when they were already 3 seasons in too! I think I just have to accept those people weren't meant to listen if the creators loving their projects for too long is a barrier for them

This is really an insecurity that I should ignore but it flares up every time one of those sorts of posts goes around. And then the whole "anything over 2 years old is a legacy podcast" category for awards or just discussion on social media also bothers me... like it's start listening new or never

Siobhan @spellboundmage.bsky.social · 02/10/2026

I've been worried that Some Place to Be is too long for new people to consider starting it for a while now and over the past year I've seen several people post that actual play shows with a dozen episodes are too long to start without special strategies... 🙃

An aerial view as the irate chef, Uncle Nicky, and the Terrapine gear-head Jonathan hang from the side of the Airship, The Adventure Beckons, on a giant fork. Uncle Nicky is flexing out of his chef''s coat attempting to pull the two of them aboard lest they fall into the nebulous clouds and collapsing castle below.

Cassidy has already written a great script that just needs clips filled in but there is all of season 3 to pick through for it and it just feels overwhelming and my indecisiveness is also getting to me

Siobhan @spellboundmage.bsky.social · 01/10/2026

I'm always asking people to try listening to SP2B so you'd think making a trailer would be right up my alley and yet I've made very little progress on it since I decided I want us to have one

Shoutout to the Canadian game designers especially, they've made the biggest influence on Some Place to Be

I'm feeling very fortunate for how many extremely talented MCs of PBTA games I've gotten to play with over the years (and many of these games were recorded)

Feel like a lot of pbta discourse could be headed off by looking at bad pbta games as bad games first and foremost rather than examples of a bad framework. I kinda wonder though if part of the confusion comes from the other big RPG acronym of that era, OSR, being a framework for making variants of

The split between player/GM and GM'd/GMless hurts our understanding of player roles in ttrpgs, and our design. They are false binaries that we sort games into based on what "feels right," without actually being very useful terms for understanding dynamics in play beyond a base level.

Streaming on my channel for the first time in forever

I didn't know they were making a reboot of a different world and I extra didn't know that some of the original actors were coming back for it so I was so extremely happy to see Whitley come on screen

We talk a lot about ignoring celebrity made podcasts but I want to specifically emphasize ignoring celebrity made actual play

All the "creators" on there are people with Hollywood headshots lmao
