🕹️ Bytes of Gaming History ⏳ A glimpse of Sega Japan sometime in 1991 during the development of Golden Axe too, snapped from a Megaforce magazine feature. Not only do we get a lovely photo of Sega HQ in Tokyo, but some very cool shots of how game art was created and then digitised onto the screen.

A photo of Sega HQ, a white-and-glass tower, seen from an upward looking angle so it looms

Two Sega artists at a Digitizer Mark III unit, with one standing and pointing at a screen with a large sprite of Ax Battler on the screen while another manipulates a mouse-like device over a large pad while sat in front of the terminal.

A really neat shot of the Digitizer Mark III and its screens, and a very busy desk with floppies and the digitizer pad and handheld device you slide around it.

A snot of the studio/workshop with many desks and computers and crt monitors filling every square foot of space aside from space to walk around

Our games industry is people. Our studios are people. Our teams people, our games by people for people. Our games are made by people, in groups of people, in teams of people, making people things for people. The magic is people, and the people deserve so much better than all this. I am so sorry.

Łukasz from Wookash Podcast (@gameengineering.bsky.social) has posted a lengthy conversation I recorded with him a few weeks ago: www.youtube.com/watch?v=2KPU... It's really awkward for me to watch it so I'll assume it's just confused rambling :)

Quick behind the scenes of our latest PC demo production, here’s the node graph for the part from 02:14 to 03:00: youtu.be/W7Om9rf0qKc?... Might print out more graphs from other scenes if there’s some interest:)
