Piers Morgan “Mohammed, do you condemn the Hamas attacks on October the 7th?” Mohammed Hijab “Yes, I do. Do you condemn Israel killing over 1000 kids?” Piers Morgan “I believe Israel has a right to defend themselves” That answer should be on the tombstone of his career.

America right now is the maddest place on earth. Like watching a David Lynch film.

Yeah but I'd say it's possible that next year will be wetter. Clarkson didn't say what he'd infer if next year was hot again but I think he'll conclude global warming is a sham if it 's slightly cooler.

Clarkson is a fucking hobby farmer. His livelihood doesn't depend on the success or failure of his farm. He's fine regardless so he can piss about pretending to be a farmer without any real jeopardy.

It's a paradox - almost by definition, Tories prefer to look after themselves but an inheritance tax passes your wealth to somebody else after your death. The only logical conclusion is that younger Tories have an eye on mum and dad's fortune.

The population is split roughly 50/50 by people who want to look after others and people who think you should look after yourself. Obviously it is the fitter, more able half that think you should look after yourself and that is what Kemi is aiming for.

We need to disconnect 'income' from 'earnings'. I could run investments with £20k per year or I could run investments with £20m per year. Both require about the same level of actual work but have radically different income.

I thin I get it (a bit). The tax rise caused movement of money resulting in a short term boost in tax receipts but long term loss? Surely tax changes elsewhere would now push money back to capital gains at the higher rate?

This is one of the most stupid questions I've seen today. 😔

That decline is like 7 years worth. Trump is mostly interested in the next 2 months. Why isn't he pumping it out to drop gas prices for the mid terms?

This is so obvious. The left love immigrants and welfare so much they are shipping them in aeroplanes in secret and then paying them to live in hotels and not work. When you look at it there isn't any doubt, it makes perfect sense. 😀

For a long time I have heard rumours that you strangle kittens for fun and worship Satan. I have never believed it and still don’t. Am I doing this right?

Why would Israel care about diplomats being expelled from the UK ... unless they were doing something they need to be here for?

That's a poor argument. The invention of the printing press, water pump, loom, tractor, steam train, car, conveyor belt etc all the way up to AI resulted in job losses. That is half of the point as people no longer have to do those tasks they can move into other areas. AI is not the last step.

I'd love to see AI being used for what it does best - collate and interpret large data sets. It's a sensitive subject but I think there should be a trusted, stand-alone AI system which can be plugged into government data. e.g. amazing medical insights are waiting amongst NHS data.

Can you imagine when photography was invented. All the artist moaning it would make them redundant and that it wasn't as good as their work. Photography should have put every artist out of work and yet now we have art and a whole new film/TV industry because of it. And now the cycle repeats with AI.

AI (or LLMs as these are - not AI) is an amazing tool but like all tools you need to learn how to use it. It's not AI we need to trust, it's those who wield it.

It seems weird that all these women came here without them. Surely this is the same story as "UK hands out clean bras to channel migrants"?

I think Burnham is a genuinely Labour with mostly Labour values. Do I think he's is in a plot with Plantair to sell off the NHS and our data? No, that is stupid.

Did a Plantir lobbyist work to get Starmer elected? Would that have anything to do with Starmer?
200
Jake Spedley @spedley.bsky.social · 02/10/2026
I doubt Starmer or Burnham have anything to do with Plantir but if such a large company with NHS contracts wants to discuss things with government at their expense then MPs are not in a position to refuse, it's their job.

I'm pretty sure with joining the single market in the 73 that lead to the UKs good fortune.

Jake Spedley @spedley.bsky.social · 02/10/2026
I saw many people claiming Starmer was in Plantirs pockets which would mean this story makes no sense - both can't be true. If there is any truth Id guess they'd given up on Starmer and hoped Burnham would be easier

I'm not a fan of Burnham and I admit I was wrong - I thought he'd have crashed and burned by now. Maybe a bit of populism is what Labour needs right now so long as it can fill the gaps in later.

Cant say I'm a fan of the tripple lock. On the surface it sounds good but when you realise how crap the pension is it's just a way of making something bad sound good.

Now that Nigel Farage has had his demands answered in the RAF Fairford investigation can we all demand an update from the Parliamentary standards commission and Met police regarding their investigations into him and Reform.

Interesting and makes sense. I can't see him getting anything more than a caution though. I suppose the real question is intent - if he thought he had put the responders life in danger then I'd guess he is guilty of the maximum penalty for the crime he did, criminal damage with intent.

Yeah but stabbing a dinghy isn't going to sink it. I doubt there's a maritime law that states first dibs.

Jake Spedley @spedley.bsky.social · 25/09/2026
I don't see any difference between that and you finding a bottle on the beach and me smashing it out of your hand. Both were found abandoned, both have a very slight risk of injury - dinghies dont sink if you stab them. I'd also say a knife is an essential piece of equipment on a boat.

Jake Spedley @spedley.bsky.social · 24/09/2026
Unfortunately I don't really see a crime here. The dinghy was arguably adrift and therefore just rubbish in the sea. The 'lifeguard' was in no danger with his training and two of his colleagues nearby. I can't see this going any further than a caution.
