The worst of it was the decision to break every Java serializer if they ever touch anything in the core libraries (like serializing dates or any other native types) while offering no viable way to work within the rules... so basically you have to disable all these security features to do anything.

I suspect quite easy. There's already a decent rtlsdr package available for Python that I can only imagine does most of the heavy lifting already. And demodulating SSB from RF is trivial, for searching out impulse noise even easier - one hardly needs to bother with filtering, etc.

Internally it’s just a question of implementing another RingBufferPipeline. There are already two implementations: one for sound cards, one for .wav files. So adding it is actually quite easy once I understand how to program the dongle and receive samples from it.

Already on the roadmap! I’m waiting for a SDR dongle shipment. The tricky bit is finding one that supports HF. Fortunately the rtl-sdr blog v4 does. Soundcard integration will still be there, but SDR will work as an alternative data source, selectable via configuration.
