Update on this: he asked why my boobs were so big compared to his. I explained only adults have boobs, and also I have very small boobs for an adult, they're just slightly bigger now so I can make milk for the baby. This morning he announced his boobs were growing so he could feed his baby. 💀

We installed container store shelving in my son's closet and I wish I had a before. This used to be a single wire shelf on top, a hanging rod, and a mountain of shit on the floor.

Sometimes the 3yo drives me nuts but then I remember how he loves to give genuine specific compliments. We went to a class at the art museum and he spent a full minute telling the girl across from him exactly what he loved about her art piece ("It's so beautiful! I love the purple!" etc.) 🥹

My son is always wary of Halloween costumes, I have to warn him and hype him up. People think it's odd, but luckily he & I are both on the same existential wavelength. Costumes can be scary! Are they going to be too hot or itchy? Am I the same person in a costume? Will my parents recognize me?

The inlaws generously came to help us paint the kid room and this is just highlighting a major reason why parenting may perhaps have been easier in the past: there was always something going on. The children long for labor. My 3yo is absolutely thrilled right now.

I would seriously give my left kidney for more audiobooks of academic texts. I use audio when I want to use my hands but still learn something, usually whatever has a short wait on Libby, and I find the pop history extra waffle of "medieval woman were just like yoooooou" so tedious.

Okay half the appeal of matching Farrow and Ball is that I am shit at choosing colors. The limited palette makes it easier to choose and gives me the soothing sense that I am picking a color that is definitely classy and in good taste because the fancy people who make expensive paint chose it too.

Baby is measuring 97% percentile and I've taken to calling her Gojira which is a little rude but you know what so is having to give birth to a massive baby. (3yo measured similarly in utero but ended up being born pretty average for gestational age...so idk.)
