SPENCER: I do not believe we live in a truly free country for many reasons. The silliest but most emotionally important of them to me: I cannot buy this right now and immediately drive it at 500 mph into a telephone pole.

Sometimes an automaker summons a demon. Sometimes they summon a demon with your actual name on it, one who who emerges from the fires of hell and says “Hey, cool, I’m gonna need some coffee and also the address and phone number of Spencer Hall, because I’m headed straight to his house.”

This demon on my doorstep has cannily assumed the form of a yellow hot hatch with retro styling, rally handling, some truly stupid-fantastic trim, the words TURBO on the side, and a 536 horsepower engine capable of going 0-60 in 3.5 seconds. I need it like I need cocaine, both in the sense that I do not need this car, and also that it would both kill me and provide some of the most thrilling moments of my life.

If you read to the end you will see that it costs $27,000 dollars base. I need everyone to overthrow the government explicitly for the purpose of making this car a) available to me personally, and b.) as cheap as possible. In summary: I should never be allowed to drive this automobile, and God themselves and no one on earth can stop me from driving this automobile.

P.S. France made this and we didn’t. We have lost our way as a nation but you likely already knew this.
