tools for folks just starting out. make weird
games, make something you want to
see! even just as a hobby, even just for yourself
or your friends, donʼt listen to the grind-set youtubers, ignore market demands,
ignore demographics, ignore payment companies,
'Good Game Design' is a myth, art can't be
made out of 'best practices', all design decisions
are specific to the game you are making.
games are a nascent art form, we've barely
scratched the surface of what they can express!
hopefully by creating more spaces like
this we can showcase the incredible things
being made and make people come away thinking
'maybe i could make a game!'

UPDATE: Panic co-founder Cabel Sasser said he believes Catalog is one of the first digital stores to ban most forms of genAI, but acknowledged that AI-coded projects will still be allowed on the storefront. "Any games submitted to Playdate Catalog that use Al for coding will be flagged as such."
