Recorded everything for the song I am working on this long weekend. Now to clean it all up!

Sound Shallows @soundshallows.bsky.social · 23/08/2026

Had all the lyrics ready for a song but decided it just didn’t fit the sound, scrapped. I have a new concept I think will be much better.

I always consider it a good sign when I’m working on lyrics and they get stuck in my head. Probably even better if it ever happened to someone else

Making progress on my 3 different collaborations… 1. Is folk rock 2. Is classic rock 3. Metal Which is more interesting to you? For everyone else here’s a cute puppy picture

Although I have 9 songs on the go… and a brand new short song out today, I also started 3 new collaborations this morning.

My next album will have 9 songs with full vocals. My entire collection so far has perhaps 6 songs with full vocals, so this will be a stretch for me. While I consider my singing “better than average” my new songs need more from me. I am tackling this a few ways

Expanding my vocal pallet in preparation to record the vocals for the next Album. Working on my singing is slowing my progress, but hopefully it translates into something that resonates with more people.

A preview of Burn The Fences! Available now on BandCamp, and everywhere else on Sept 26. What began as a project with everyone on social media as #CrowdSong has evolved. It is about the division found so easily, how it is promoted from above, and our need to come together.

CrowdSong v19 WIP

Combo industrial / Dance 132BPM C Locrian to C Dorian

000

Sound Shallows @soundshallows.bsky.social · 04/08/2025

Last update on #CrowdSong before I take a bit a break for another project. Added a transition to C Dorian during the break, which really brightens the 2nd half and gives it an almost happy pop after the C Locrian, takes it from Industrial to Dance.

000

Sound Shallows @soundshallows.bsky.social · 04/08/2025

Next I added a few melodies to try out for #CrowdSong with effects on each. Plenty of room for improvement. I like to colour code related areas. Also started adding risers and sidechaining drums (peak control + some EQing)

000

Sound Shallows @soundshallows.bsky.social · 04/08/2025

After adding a base layout for #CrowdSong I added unique drums for each section as a starting point. By habit I add them in patterns- I find advantages in repeating drums for this, less so for dynamic changes. I also added some industrial basics - 2 instruments it switches between

Basic drums and starting industrial backbone

000

Sound Shallows @soundshallows.bsky.social · 04/08/2025

Some updates on #CrowdSong I laid out a song structure. The scale we are using is more convenient for the Industrial side, so I am leaning into a dance structure. If the image is difficult to see: 1. Intro 2. Build 3. Drop 4. Break 5. Build 6. Drop 7. Outtro

000

Sound Shallows @soundshallows.bsky.social · 02/08/2025

I’ve decided for #CrowdSong that I will post updates as I progress through the song. Still open to feedback, suggestions, voting just wasn’t bringing much feedback. If you want to see the progress follow along!
