It's hard, right now. Governments are turning less and less tolerant of anything that isn't the same as the majority. But I'm sharing the words of one of my favourite Trekkies, former leader of the New Democratic Party of Canada, Jack Layton, who sadly passed away in 2011.

A giant alien spider creature off screen has a a leg pinned on Ires's chest, he is lying on his back on the ground, trying to remove it. He has a gash on his chest, which indicates the creature already scratched him. He's yelling "@>#* #^%* IT'S A FOUR LOBED ANIMAL!!!" meaning he tried to calm/ subdue the animal with his telepathic abilities, and due to its unfamiliar brain structure, failed.
In the background, Egon seems shocked and ready to fight. She is on the ground, getting up from a sitting position, and has a lit makeshift torch in her left hand and a rock in her right, which she presumably used to light the fire.

Behind her, is a crooked looking dead alien tree. It seems to be considered some sort of shrine and sacrificial alter, there are strings tied from branch to branch, personal belongings and trinkets are hanging from them. Bones like ribs and stringed up spinal columns are also strung from the branches, and the cavity in the trunk is filled with skulls of humanoids. A few skulls and dried bones, and heaps of empty shells of foot long large insects are also scattered around the tree . There are hand prints on the trunk, an empty shell is being used as a dish which holds whatever liquid the prints were made with. There's loose rope near Egon's feet, which indicates they were tied up to be sacrificed but they got out of.

Panel 2:
Egon is supporting an injured Ires by holding his right arm over her shoulder. He is pressing an open gash in under his diaphragm, which is actively bleeding.

Egon looks concerned and annoyed, she says "You have very poor self-preservation Okai... It's astonishing that you're still alive."

Ires answers smugly, "Well, I bought us some time, didn't I?" to which Egon replies with a raised voice, "THERE ARE OTHER WAYS TO DO IT!!!"

Star Trek: Lower Decks is an underdog love letter to the franchise that is not above satirizing its tropes and flaws. A workplace comedy that nonetheless puts real effort into deepening its characters and upholding earnestly the series' core principles and values -perhaps more fully than any other.

BEHOLD! I finally settled on the design of the ship. Presenting: USS Celeste (NCC- 74642) ✨✨✨ I wanted the ship to look sleek and organic, like a swimming sea creature, and I think I'm finally satisfied with the design. #StarTrek #OriginalArt #Celeste I almost forgot why I avoid drawing vehicles🫠
