I just rewatched Pacific Rim and it reminded me of the best thing I ever wrote, a Jinkook Pacific Rim AU. archiveofourown.org/works/46295305 #BTSfic

Most of the things in their training, Seokjin had learned to forget over time. The cold was one he couldn't. They were always cold when they were kids, and there's something unnatural about that.
One of the other boys around his age - Namjoon - had said their training was based on something he called instinctual fears. The things your body just knows it should be scared of. A wrong shape in your peripheral vision. The smell of rot. Deep water. Dark.
Blood.
Even as kids, they knew to fear being cold for too long. That hadn't mattered to their trainers.
Jungkook still gets the shakes, sometimes. He shivers at night, no matter how much they are curled around each other, perfectly spooned in bed like two halves of a whole. No matter how many blankets Jin wraps around him, how tightly he presses against Jungkook, how warm Jungkook gets in the end: he can't stop shivering.
For that alone, Kim Seokjin would let the world burn.
But Jungkook is a man of forgiveness.

Fanfic has broke my brain in terms of length. I’m in the process of writing this fic, 23k words in, and am like oh well that’s sparse. Quite short. No one will be satisfied. That’s a novella. A friend pointed out that Of Mice and Men is 29k. The Old Man and the Sea is 26k.

I’m working on a Gilded Age omegaverse #BTS fic based on dueling and polar exploration and newspapers. #WIPWednesday

The last duel in the American West occurred between a playboy Alpha newspaperman and the Beta brother of the last woman who had fallen afoul of the playboy’s advances. That’s the story that’s told in the papers, told among the liars and the gossips. The kind of story sold in the strong language of whisper networks, heard from the Omega hairstylist who heard it from her brother who then heard it from their cousin’s best friend who was actually there.

But they weren’t there.

Almost no one was there the night it happened, save the two men themselves, and the two men they brought along to ask as lookouts and seconds. There were no crowds, no gathered assemblage to watch. Just four men in the dawn light.

The reality of history is that when it’s made, no one realizes, until far later, the significance of the moment. That is doubly true for this final duel. Because none of the men involved in this story understood its significance. But history, as always, will out.

Yoongi doesn't like to think about the past. He killed it, along with the name he was born with. Left both for dead in his mother's mouth when he'd left home for the last time, a backpack over his shoulder, and only Namjoon's place to go to. Because that was who Kim Namjoon was to Min Yoongi - safe harbor.
Kim Namjoon, the first person he ever trusted with his name. Yoongi believes, somehow, that he has always been Min Yoongi, even when people were calling him another name. But he had whispered his name into Namjoon's shoulder one night, and that had been it.
For years, 'Yoongi' was a private thing; a name that was kept secret and sacred, kept to himself. A name he hadn't told a soul, but that defined him. It was magic, that name, but the kind of magic that could be a curse. Like old fairy tales. There's a lot of magic to naming - names hold power. To name something is to know it; one of the first acts in a person's life is to be named. The final death, after the body is gone, is when your name is spoken for the last time aloud.
Everyone knows how important naming is, until they conveniently forget when someone announces, when they're older and wiser, that they have another name. A new name. A name that they know in their own heart.
But it had been difficult for Yoongi to have a name that he could only keep to himself. That he didn't dare speak for fear that it would turn into venom in another's mouth. And so he had told Kim Namjoon.
