We should only grant permission to new data centres if they meet some basic environmental conditions - use renewable energy, leave enough over to allow us to decarbonise the grid, and connect to district heating schemes instead of wasting heat and water.

… I was interested in Eva because of her sister Constance Markievicz who was elected the first Westminster woman MP in 1918 but as a Sinn Féin representative she sat in the First Dáil Éireann. There’s a good biography of Eva (and her social and political context) by @sonjatiernan.bsky.social
