A well-known common name for this animal is a Least Weasel (Mustela nivalis). We think it's the most weasel one could be.
A brown and white weasel stares directly into the camera.

The Tufted ground squirrel (Rheithrosciurus macrotis) is a riddle wrapped in an enigma wrapped in floof. Let's start with the *FLOOF* & talk about why they're called "VAMPIRE SQUIRRELS" last. They have the largest tail: body size ratio of any mammal on Earth: the tail is *130%* the size the body.
Taken from "Critter Science" blog: A squirrel with dark coloration, just an amazingly large tail, and long tufted ears that point slightly backwards. Along the long-thin body are orange, white and black striping. The tail looks almost exactly like one of those dust-trapping dusters.

Illustration of a set of European Herring Gulls lined up in front of a gray sea. All of the adults are blurred, either close to or far from the "camera", leaving a juvenile in focus with its beak open to the sky as it calls out. The adults are snowy white and pale gray with bright yellow bills, but the juvenile has a black bill, mottled pale gray head and breast, and extensive brown-gray mottling all over the wings and back.

The difference in utility between the use of ML to tackle big data problems that would otherwise be intractable & the use of LLMs to produce pointless slop is so large they cannot both be usefully described as “AI“. The first is making real progress, the second is dragging us towards the abyss.

for the first time in two and a half years, a new note was played in this organ performance today!
Organ²/ASLSP (As Slow as Possible) is a musical piece by John Cage.[1]

An organ in St. Burchardi church in Halberstadt in 2001 began a performance that is due to end in 2640. This makes it the longest running non-computerized piece currently being performed.

I do imagine that its hard to thread the needle on this one. It's an important project but once someone with a particular audience decides its part of a larger culture war it could lead to a lot of harm to the people & orgs that are trying to conserve & help birds.
