Storm #Eowyn is being forecast as one of the most intense wind storms to hit Ireland. We will have to wait for attribution studies to assess what role #climate change did or didn’t play. By coincidence I have been reading papers on current impacts of AMOC slowdown. 🧵

I don't remember anyone called #Eowyn enriching herself by supercharging global weather systems. Exxon, on the other hand, ripely deserves to have a storm named after it.

Did you know that moss doesn't flower? Those flower-looking structures are actually capsules that produce spores. Not all mosses produce capsules, but many are incredibly beautiful, like those of this greater pincushion moss. 📷 Gordon Rothero

An extremely dangerous and potentially record-breaking bomb cyclone is just hours away from severely impacting Ireland, especially, and the northern parts of the UK. Storm Éowyn will unfortunately reach its peak intensity right at landfall with wind gusts possibly exceeding 200 km/h (124 mph).

That high resolution AROME model out to 9am shows gusts I’ve never seen this model show before for Ireland and this model is one of the best there is for Ireland. Anyone saying this is just another storm is in for a rude awakening. This will be an historic storm. #StormÉowyn

In a 1.5°C future, there's still a lot of fossil fuels, but they're just in the ground.

Colonialism didn’t just steal land—it rewrote the story of nature. It taught us to see the Earth as something to dominate, not something to belong to. The fight for decolonization is the fight to unlearn this lie and rebuild our relationship with the planet.
