I'm a 3D generalist with a faible for PBR materials and technical stuff like shaders. I use either UE or Godot, depending on the project.

My interpretation today is unusually colorful for me, but I really like the effect of the SSS. Exercise 9/10 #Blender #GeometryNodes #MotionDesign #MotionGraphics

Volumes are really computationally intensive. That brings me to Animation 7/10 #Blender #MotionDesign #MotionGraphics

I was really surprised that today's animation didn't come until the second half of the course, but I suppose the course author had a reason for it. So now I'm on animation 6 of 10 #Blender #MotionDesign #MotionGraphics

And here is the next loopable animation. For anyone who finds this annoying, this is animation 4/10. So you still have 6 more to sit through. #Blender #MotionDesign #MotionGraphics

Somehow, another day has already gone by... So here's another exercise from the course I'm currently taking, with my somewhat different interpretation. #Blender #MotionDesign #MotionGraphics

To unwind, I'm currently dabbling a bit in motion design. I'm taking the new course from Ducky3D, and this is my take on the first hands-on exercise. I just love getting lost in these looping animations. #Blender #MotionDesign

Is it possible that since Unreal Engine 5.7, you can no longer create C++ projects using the wizard? I only have Blueprint to choose from and am wondering if it's just me or my Linux, or if it's a general change. In 5.6.1, I have both options to choose from. #UE #UnrealEngine

My Substance Designer Plugin has reached its final functional scope. Now, before the release, it's “just” a matter of catching usage errors. Oh, and I just created the image sequence (360 images) for the video with the push of just one button. #gameart #TechArt #TechnicalArt #MadeWithSubstance

The free release of my “Uber Blend” node for #Substance3DDesigner is not long in coming. It offers almost 50 blend modes for grayscale and RGB(A). I am currently writing a suitable article and have created another node that illustrates the changes in brightness. #MadeWithSubstance

I have now also made progress with my last modular rooms. These two rooms have different intentions, hence the different lighting. In the second screenshot you can still see a few placeholders, which I will probably replace in the next few days. #WIP #at2t #UE5 #UnrealEngine #gameart #gamedev

Unfortunately, I'm not yet satisfied with my courtyard, so today I'm only showing a sneak peak of one of the assets used. A boxwood material. It was the first time I tried my hand at foliage. #WIP #at2t #Substance3d #SubstanceDesigner #gameart #gamedev

This week has been so productive that I have the urge to do a second post. The training dummy is now textured and animated in the scene. Will I maybe even manage three posts? 🧐 #WIP #at2t #UE5 #UnrealEngine #animation #gameart #gamedev

As I have to present my current status tomorrow, I have created a short video. Unfortunately, my time limit is so short that too much is shown in too little time. But maybe someone will like it anyway. #WIP #UE5

I'm currently working on a wooden training dummy so that I can put more pressure on myself to finally integrate the basic combat system. My project also needs to include at least one sculpting asset. Rig and animations will hopefully follow soon. #3dsculpt #sculpting #b3d #blender

I have now switched to UE 5.5 to be able to use Megalights. The difference is really impressive. 1. without Megalights (attenuation radius: 250) 2. with Megalights (attenuation radius: 250) 3. without Megalights (attenuation radius: 500) 4. with Megalights (attenuation radius: 250) #ue5

Now that I've learned how essential the brightness of the BaseColor is for indirect light with lumens, I've also managed to create a lighting mood that I find pleasant. 1. original scene 2. original floor material 3. new scene (only floor and pillar material was changed) 4. new floor material #ue5
