Saw a (non-anthro) animal film I really liked at TIFF last night! Long Long Night is about a rhino & penguin caring for an egg on a journey thru a gorgeously rendered Africa. The queerness is nearly textual: the penguin is clearly one of a gay pair who adopt the egg after other penguins reject it.

While bad for independent creators, a perfectly accessibly entry point for youngsters. These are customizable and non-threatening. (How bad can "furry" be for kids if you can buy it at the mall?). It does not bode particularly well for a queer alternative subculture to be commodified however.

Just finished Tethers Torn by @utunu.bsky.social! Such a satisfying sequel—it builds on the first book (which I loved) and explores the characters and their different relationships in ways that work for both the world(s) of the story and for me as reader. Really excited for the third book!

My purchases at Flamecon were mostly not furry/furry-adjacent, but after stopping to talk to a furry maker I found this awesome TTRPG dice holder and furry meeples they make, plus bought an incredible set of prints right as the con closed 🙂
