Codex vs Claude Code. GPT-6 Astra vs Opus 5.5. Scary spider challenge. Codex hit its usage limit in minutes and did an ok job across two 5-hour windows. While I waited, Claude Code did this in about an hour. Don't believe the hype. #buildinpublic #Codex #Claude #blender #3D

A screenshot of the Percy agent's chat interface. The user asks about email counts. The agent replies: I'm not sure which of my skills fits, so I haven't run anything and I haven't learned a new route, then lists three closest matching skills and asks the user to pick. A debug line reads 188 milliseconds, 5025 tokens, $0.00018354, and the run is marked Failure recorded.

Back to faces, and this one is hard. Last time I just needed a face. This time it has to match a specific image, and Trellis2 is not good at faces. Splitting the head into its own mesh failed. So: sweep the seeds, pick the best, run again. #buildinpublic #3D #gamedev #blender

Bringing the brain and the head to the party. Segmented the head, positioned the brain inside the model, then blew them both up. The effects are starting to come together. The brief asks for Braindead level gore, so the faint hearted should look away. #buildinpublic #3D #blender #gamedev #vfx

And here we are. A little thick for my liking, but more like a liquid. Very easy with Claude Code — I can't claim much credit. High res liquid sim on my GPU, plot the particles, transpose onto a maths version to match. Built for low spec machines. #buildinpublic #3D #gamedev #blender

071

Richard Watson @solvxuk.bsky.social · 14/09/2026

Balls! Trying to get a low res blood effect. Looks good from afar, but far from good — on closer inspection the splatter lands as spheres. Blood does not behave like this. Claude reckons we can make the droplets read as liquid. solvx.uk/go/3d-bs #buildinpublic #3D #gamedev

042

Richard Watson @solvxuk.bsky.social · 13/09/2026

And the final curtain. Left hand bound to the moving pump, right hand to the gun, every connection held across all frames. I had never animated anything until a few weeks ago. Human-AI teamwork: I set the joint and bone position, AI ran it through 50 frames. #buildinpublic #3D #gamedev #blender

093

Richard Watson @solvxuk.bsky.social · 12/09/2026

Procedural animation, via a Claude Code and Blender bridge. Isolate the pump action, restrict its movement to the axis of the gun itself. Still manual here, but it's the home straight. Just rigging and finger crossing to go. solvx.uk/go/3d-bs #buildinpublic #3D #gamedev #blender

192

Richard Watson @solvxuk.bsky.social · 12/09/2026

The final thumb moves into place. Hand position is set. Next: the pump action bind for the left hand, and a procedural animation for that part. Also finally worked out how to get Claude Code to copy a frame through into the full clip. #buildinpublic #3D #gamedev #blender #rigging #animation

070

Richard Watson @solvxuk.bsky.social · 12/09/2026

Mind bending 3D, one finger at a time. Left hand first: the fingers are inside the gun and need to touch the pump perfectly. Skin weighting holds up. Focus this hard on detail and you miss the bigger picture. 2 sets of human eyes on all 3D work. solvx.uk/go/3d-bs #buildinpublic #3D

020

Richard Watson @solvxuk.bsky.social · 12/09/2026

Forgot to isolate and animate the pump. Hands and fingers come after — the pump has to move first. Only one clip is needed now, but it has to be perfect. Full animation of the gun parts. Next: bind the fingers to it, so the grip holds for the whole clip. #buildinpublic #3D #gamedev #blender

091

Richard Watson @solvxuk.bsky.social · 11/09/2026

End of level? Boss says no. The designer I'm working with says we only need one animation. The hero's abilities got cut to the budget, and Unity does the rest — given one perfect clip with the gun aligned to all axis'. The gun is aligned. Fingers next. #buildinpublic #3D #gamedev #blender

0161

Richard Watson @solvxuk.bsky.social · 11/09/2026

Bindings fixed, new animation targeted. It fails. The gun passes inside the body for part of the movement. Different sized model, different sized gun, bindings taken from another clip. So much for an easy fix across 12 shotgun clips. #buildinpublic #3D #gamedev #blender #rigging

191

Richard Watson @solvxuk.bsky.social · 11/09/2026

Shotguns at dawn. A reload animation on the hero, and annoyingly this is close but still not correct. I was hoping to get there without changing the pose of the bones. Do it once, then replicate across a full set of motions. #buildinpublic #3D #gamedev #blender #rigging

072

Richard Watson @solvxuk.bsky.social · 11/09/2026

A sneaky peek at today's work. Claude actually got very close. Excuse the scale — and the crotch shotgun. In its defence, the hands are correctly placed on it. #buildinpublic #3D #gamedev #blender #rigging #animation
