Race anyone in the world through the streets of London. No download. No install. Click a link and you are driving. I'm on Tower Bridge all weekend. solvx.uk/go/ml7-bs #buildinpublic #Claude #gamedev #multiplayer #webgl #indiedev #londongame #racinggame #madewithai

Drive the London map, with built-in sat nav. Open the map, drop a pin anywhere, and the HUD navigates you there. This exact build is live and playable: solvx.uk/go/ml6-bs Next build turns it into an open race mode. #buildinpublic #Claude #gamedev

The race is back - and it is a little hairy. 3 laps from a grid on Tower Bridge, real physics, nothing to install. This exact build is live and playable right now: solvx.uk/go/ml-next5 #buildinpublic #Claude #gamedev

Hard to drive - and I think that is the win. A sports car over Tower Bridge at 150kph plus is hard in real life too. So what next? Missiles, time trials, helicopters? Tell me in the comments. solvx.uk/go/ml-bs #buildinpublic #Claude #gamedev

Full physics, instead of fixing each driving bug one at a time. Easy with Claude Code, and more fun to drive than I expected. No arcade twist. Race and map return next. Then what? Missiles, time trials, helicopters? solvx.uk/go/ml-bs #buildinpublic #Claude #gamedev

Is Opus 5.5 the Unity killer? I dropped Unity for a TypeScript web build. 6,049 lines of C# became 856. A 305MB download became 81MB. Build and publish went from 6 minutes to 20 seconds. Every build goes live: solvx.uk/go/ml-bs #buildinpublic #Claude #Unity

Codex vs Claude Code. GPT-6 Astra vs Opus 5.5. Scary spider challenge. Codex hit its usage limit in minutes and did an ok job across two 5-hour windows. While I waited, Claude Code did this in about an hour. Don't believe the hype. #buildinpublic #Codex #Claude #blender #3D

Testing Codex with GPT-6 Astra, and I wanted something that stands out. A spider. Modelled and rigged in Blender, all 8 legs, then animated to make your skin crawl. Or is that a spider crawl? #buildinpublic #blender #b3d #3D #rigging #gamedev #indiedev

Finally the agent behaves. Am I a genius, or is this Jev at work? It rejected me. "Not sure which of my skills fits, so I haven't run anything." Three closest matches, pick one. A refusal is the win. 188ms, $0.00018. #buildinpublic #AI #agents #Jev #Claude
A screenshot of the Percy agent's chat interface. The user asks about email counts. The agent replies: I'm not sure which of my skills fits, so I haven't run anything and I haven't learned a new route, then lists three closest matching skills and asks the user to pick. A debug line reads 188 milliseconds, 5025 tokens, $0.00018354, and the run is marked Failure recorded.

Back to faces, and this one is hard. Last time I just needed a face. This time it has to match a specific image, and Trellis2 is not good at faces. Splitting the head into its own mesh failed. So: sweep the seeds, pick the best, run again. #buildinpublic #3D #gamedev #blender

Bringing the brain and the head to the party. Segmented the head, positioned the brain inside the model, then blew them both up. The effects are starting to come together. The brief asks for Braindead level gore, so the faint hearted should look away. #buildinpublic #3D #blender #gamedev #vfx

And here we are. A little thick for my liking, but more like a liquid. Very easy with Claude Code — I can't claim much credit. High res liquid sim on my GPU, plot the particles, transpose onto a maths version to match. Built for low spec machines. #buildinpublic #3D #gamedev #blender

Balls! Trying to get a low res blood effect. Looks good from afar, but far from good — on closer inspection the splatter lands as spheres. Blood does not behave like this. Claude reckons we can make the droplets read as liquid. solvx.uk/go/3d-bs #buildinpublic #3D #gamedev

And the final curtain. Left hand bound to the moving pump, right hand to the gun, every connection held across all frames. I had never animated anything until a few weeks ago. Human-AI teamwork: I set the joint and bone position, AI ran it through 50 frames. #buildinpublic #3D #gamedev #blender

Richard Watson @solvxuk.bsky.social · 12/09/2026
Procedural animation, via a Claude Code and Blender bridge. Isolate the pump action, restrict its movement to the axis of the gun itself. Still manual here, but it's the home straight. Just rigging and finger crossing to go. solvx.uk/go/3d-bs #buildinpublic #3D #gamedev #blender

Richard Watson @solvxuk.bsky.social · 12/09/2026
The final thumb moves into place. Hand position is set. Next: the pump action bind for the left hand, and a procedural animation for that part. Also finally worked out how to get Claude Code to copy a frame through into the full clip. #buildinpublic #3D #gamedev #blender #rigging #animation

Richard Watson @solvxuk.bsky.social · 12/09/2026
Mind bending 3D, one finger at a time. Left hand first: the fingers are inside the gun and need to touch the pump perfectly. Skin weighting holds up. Focus this hard on detail and you miss the bigger picture. 2 sets of human eyes on all 3D work. solvx.uk/go/3d-bs #buildinpublic #3D
020
Richard Watson @solvxuk.bsky.social · 12/09/2026
Forgot to isolate and animate the pump. Hands and fingers come after — the pump has to move first. Only one clip is needed now, but it has to be perfect. Full animation of the gun parts. Next: bind the fingers to it, so the grip holds for the whole clip. #buildinpublic #3D #gamedev #blender

Richard Watson @solvxuk.bsky.social · 11/09/2026
End of level? Boss says no. The designer I'm working with says we only need one animation. The hero's abilities got cut to the budget, and Unity does the rest — given one perfect clip with the gun aligned to all axis'. The gun is aligned. Fingers next. #buildinpublic #3D #gamedev #blender

Richard Watson @solvxuk.bsky.social · 11/09/2026
Bindings fixed, new animation targeted. It fails. The gun passes inside the body for part of the movement. Different sized model, different sized gun, bindings taken from another clip. So much for an easy fix across 12 shotgun clips. #buildinpublic #3D #gamedev #blender #rigging

Richard Watson @solvxuk.bsky.social · 11/09/2026
Shotguns at dawn. A reload animation on the hero, and annoyingly this is close but still not correct. I was hoping to get there without changing the pose of the bones. Do it once, then replicate across a full set of motions. #buildinpublic #3D #gamedev #blender #rigging

Working 5 to 9, time to make a livin'. Enough dancing — this guy needs to be combat ready. Rough animation retargeted onto the model, and this one comes with guns. Next: weld the object in Blender, then apply to every clip for that weapon 🤞 #buildinpublic #3D #gamedev #blender #rigging

Hero's shockin' and rockin' now. AccuRig for the rigging, a bones seeds animation from Nvidia. It all came together just in time — I can animate at will. One problem: movement data sets don't have guns. Next: manual edits in Blender. #buildinpublic #3D #gamedev #blender #rigging

Richard Watson @solvxuk.bsky.social · 10/09/2026
Close, but no cigar. Two animations, same model. One Claude instance got it right, one got it wrong — the good one is the reference for fixing the bad one. All to unify the 3D standards: my own skeleton, bridged to every other. When AC dances like a pro, it works.

Richard Watson @solvxuk.bsky.social · 10/09/2026
Promoted to hero work today. In 3D the "hero" is the model the camera actually looks at — not the crowd. Two weeks of sub-2k background characters, now the lead. High poly, for a client's game. Re-rigging in AccuRig, full skeleton. Expect swearing. #buildinpublic #3D #gamedev

Richard Watson @solvxuk.bsky.social · 10/09/2026
We have a winner. Yesterday every rigging tool refused my sub-2k models. Today Mixamo took one without complaint. Low-poly rigging: wrapped. The scrappy Gopnik is a go. That wall could have ended the whole pipeline. #buildinpublic #3D #gamedev #blender

Richard Watson @solvxuk.bsky.social · 10/09/2026
I see trouble ahead. So close. I was worried about the fists — turns out rigging let me down. AccuRig won't touch anything under 30k tris. Meshy under 10k. Apparently 2k isn't enough for an armpit. So: self-built local rigger. Doesn't work yet. #buildinpublic #3D #gamedev

Trellis2, we love you. Sub 2k tris. Complete models — one piece, no loose parts. Running locally on an 8GB card, for free. Animation pipeline coming soon. #buildinpublic #3D #blender #gamedev #lowpoly

Final version. One rig to take them all. Every 3D rig wants its own bone names, its own hierarchy, its own idea of which way a joint points. This unifies them, so an animation built for one drops onto any. No mesh — just the skeleton, walking. #buildinpublic #3D #blender
