I would just like to point out that current emissions projections generally assume peace. Decarbonization initiatives are already being thrown out now and, as militarization increases, so too does oil usage and emissions.

You're right, tho, I was mostly thinking in terms of others around my age. A car is absolutely a social need across basically all of the US. I hope this won't be the case in the coming decades (which, unfortunately, I doubt will happen). Fwiw, tho, I do have friends with kids that don't have a car.

Well I'm quite young, so the logistics of kids isn't something that I really think about; I'm sure that makes it a lot harder. Not saying nobody should have cars as it is (i.e. without a sufficient public transit), but that treating it as a default isn't necessarily the best option.

The literal entire reason for this war is that Iran, in 1979, successfully threw off our imperialists and stopped them from extracting superprofits. Imperialism is a mode of production that necessitates the exploitation of workers in the colonies and semi-colonies and that is what this war is about.

I recommend to others that they don't get a car if they live somewhere with a bus system (even if it sucks). Cars are really fucking expensive and terrible for the environment and walking/biking is good for your health. I live in a college town in middle of nowhere rural US and don't have a car.
