This particular soapbox is so exhausting to stand on. No one cares when I gripe about it and there’s no motivation for the government to change. I’ve tried to wiggle my way into clinics or pharmacies that care but their hands are tied to the vaccine release dates. Im so tired.

Yes, absolutely noticing this. I recruit & train volunteers at a Literacy Society & the onboarding process with the younger adults is very slow & often ends before they start their training. In general, they seem to be canceling appointments frequently, or not showing up at all. Very frustrating.

I run a digital literacy program for adults & seniors where we run workshops & 1:1 coaching sessions with topics like these. It’s getting harder & harder to recognize Ai images. People now have to think so critically about what they are seeing. Posts like this help build our detective skills! 🕵🏻‍♀️

100%. Our local pediatric clinic went from seeing an average of 14 T1D dx’s per year to 14 per MONTH. Covid triggers autoimmune responses. Our local T1D social hub group has grown from a small 20 family group to well over 100 in a few years. The proof is there!

Today the Vernon emergency donation centre received a large lunch donation like this from their Sikh community like this. 💕 It was amazing for both the volunteers and evacuees. So amazing to see everyone coming together! 💕

Very hard time falling asleep, for sure. I require the emotional support fan to drown out other noises. Add in a child with Type 1 Diabetes to care for, and the sleep deprivation drove me to absolute burnout. Props to anyone neurodivergent dealing with T1D. It’s awful.

It’s awful. I also hate the backlash you get from asking coworkers to mask if they insist on coming to work with symptoms. They react so viscerally to the whole idea and are just so unable to do it, even when they are aware of the why.

Ok thank you. I was wondering the same. If there’s no gene editing or medication, the autoimmune disorder would just kill the same beta cells off again if it was T1D. I was also confused as to why it was referred as Type 2 when the patient was using insulin daily.

Yes! Filtering indoor air during periods of heavy wildfire smoke is necessary! Canada has some terrible wildfire seasons now. The 1st photo is 3 days of 24hr filtering through really heavy smoke. This is in ADDITION to the Hepa filter on the furnace while A/C was running. The DIY box fan works great

A photo of the front of the 20” box fan with hepa filter attached to the back. It’s important to make a “shroud” for the front, as shown. The circular cutout stops air from going backwards through the wrong end of the dirty filter. This ensures all air goes one direction, through the filter to trap particles with only clean air going out into your home.

The filters that are great to use for the box fan. These also filter pet dander and virus particles.

One 20x20 hepa filter sealed to the back of a box fan is all you need. 1st pic is after 3 days of indoor filtering (with hepa also on the furnace/AC and all windows closed) through very heavy wildfire smoke. New, clean one on the right. Don’t forget to make a shroud for the front (as shown).

The front view of a box fan with Hepa filter attached at the back. The front shows the “shroud”, a cardboard circular cut out that stops air from circulating backwards into the wrong side of the fan. This way, no dirty air enters through the wrong direction. It ensures that all air goes one direction through the filter. It’s science!

A 2-pack of Filtrete filters that are up to Merv-13 standards. This will filter mostly everything, including viruses.

I have an observation from 6+ years of Type 1 Diabetes management for my young child. It was chronic severe sleep deprivation, like having a newborn for 6 yrs. My allergies and asthma were terrible. Ruined the quality of my life, plus I was just so tired. I’m sleeping now, asthma is well controlled.

At a male-dominated workplace, the men had a secret “code 44” that they would page over the system to alert the dudes that a hot woman was in the building. They paged the location & men would go there to stare at her. Found this out when I wore a lower cut top to work and they called it on me. 😑

Was able to use your trick, thanks! I’ve long been on this soapbox that kids don’t have access like drop in sports like adults do in communities and if kids want to be active afterschool, it has to be competitive league stuff. So some kids just opt all the way out. Or get teased for showing up.

Outside metro Vancouver, they use dirt on the roads during winter for grip. This turns into dust once the weather warms up. Air quality warnings go extremely high, especially when they start street sweeping it up. Terrible if you live near a busy road.

You know what other group I found to really undermine medical safety for kids was nursing support services. One local nurse actively laughed at me alongside the school principal while dismissing my concerns about how kids can, in fact, get sick from Covid. The damage done makes me so sick.
