Meanwhile Burroughs, a "capacity" of 700, remains well below in all 3 plans and even shrinks in one of them. I should definitely put "capacity" in quotes b/c everyone knows these schools don't actually have room for this many kids unless every class is totally filled to the brim.

So I am against any school closures, but this school transformation plan just seems like a complete failure beyond the massive harm closing schools would produce. Hale capacity: 532 Option 1, 3 enrollment proposal: 560-620 Barton capacity: 560 Option 3 proposal: 620-640 wut?

Okay so I'm a little dumb in that it doesnt show the numbers for a few regions. That would add about 5-6k more. Potentially making it realistic for the rest of the numbers to be from outside the district. STILL showing overall growth, though.

This is from the district's "interactive map". First, it shows current enrollment of 18,738 from Minneapolis while overall enrollment is over 10k past that. It also shows that the district is projecting growth over the past 10 years & most growth is where they're closing the most schools. Huh?

Picketing outside Justice Page MS today, 2 amazing 6th graders from “the Justice Pages” school newspaper that I advise stayed over an hour snapping pics and getting excited to see their teachers on the line. They care about us & know we’re there for them. Can’t wait to read what they write.

The goal is to have no encampments. But until the city funds housing-first solutions, they're inevitable. Frey's encampment sweeps don't work. He isn't solving homelessness, he's wasting valuable resources. Everyone deserves a dignified path to housing, not a fenced off sidewalk.

The hearing today was the culmination of a 4.5 assault on the connective tissue of the DFL in Mpls, to prevent exactly the eventuality that happened, Frey losing the DFL endorsement. It was full spectrum domination aimed at eliminating any avenue of power building against downtown money.

Hennepin County’s proposed layout for Lyndale Avenue S. falls short. It’s not a people-first design. It’s a decorated, street-level parking lot, dusted with the occasional confetti of mode shift virtue signals. No protected bikeways, 24/7 bus lanes, or green space throughout the entire corridor.
