I find it kinda amusing that society acts like autistic people can't view things outside of a strict binary when someone of us just get lost in a sea of gray. For someone with "uncertainty is hell" condition I find a strange sense of comfort in the inbetween. (until it gets really frustrating)

Art does not need to be "good" to justify its existence. Hiding a toxic brand of personal distaste and hate one may have towards a work and disguising it as "criticism" completely undoes the efforts to keep the power of art within the public. Proper criticism never takes over the artist's autonomy.

There's a difference between criticism and trying to take over someone else's story. Criticism stopped being constructive and swapped to a destructive trend when it started acting like it knew about the art then the artist behind it.

stuff happening under the surface, with people trying to intentionally shut down creators and things they don't like because it fights back. Because it leaves us in cycle of conflict, too distracted and too exhausted for anything else. It really feels like a mass griefing effort and I hate it.

I've been suspicious of the idea that a lot of the conflict isn't really 100% organic and rather propped up and blown up will ill intent but I rather not accuse people of things. Yet from my experiences online and in multiple fandoms, this may every much be the case. There may be some really sketchy

I'm thankful to bump into others that feel the same, its been a growing frustration of mine that society still feels enforced isolation of the unworthy is the answer. I've had people paint me as evil for this, so its been difficult to not surrender this developing perspective.

I hate to be so morbid and open on your posts about this subject lately Alex but people really do have to be careful about this stuff and more empathic of others. I nearly lost my life because of harassment like this back in 2021, it was a miracle I stepped away from that attempt that night.

People hear about the whole "intolerance for intolerance" paradox and think that means to dehumanize the intolerant when its just about not accepting bigotry and lessening the damage it can do, get to the root, so glad im seeing more and more realize that punishment is not the answer but growth is!

And if true, this ties into some behavior that I just dealt with + potential longterm stalking involving another fandoms. It felt like one well constructed discourse/conflict pit after another. It wouldnt shock me to see trolls try to play things up to make all activism look bad.

You don’t have to like it when people you follow online fail. The problem is, social media offers a very incomplete picture. Not everyone sees the ways we hold ourselves and others accountable offline, and how we’ve changed through the years. Be uncomfortable - but remember that’s still a person.

Literally just went through something similar. Thankfully the accusation was far less "severe" but it was still a complete twisting of what actually occurred. I wasn't the only one affected and targeted either which leaves a trail for someone to eat their own words on accountability.

Thank you for passing this on! I was curious (and a little worried) why Gem's side of this hadn't come out yet and nearly moved on. (doc explains this) This why its important to always hold a degree of skepticism, trust what people have to say but hold off until all/most information is given.

Was it stupid for me to spend nearly $800 on music festival tickets in the most uncertain year of my life yet? Perhaps but the regret would have hurt far more. Have to hold onto something this year and the wait to October is going to be torture and uncertainty is my fear... tackling that head on.

And its not just trans people getting hurt due to all of this, intersex people are at risk as well. The trans and intersex communities have linked struggles. We need to support and uplift each other! We both challenge binaries in our own ways and for that we are seen as a threat.

Society is being gaslit into hating all queers as we speak. We need to protect and uplift each other. Especially in person because not all of us have solid offline networks. The infighting needs to stop or the next 4 years could make the numbers we lost during the aids crisis look like a joke.
