❤️‍🩹 This is what life looks like in Kyiv during massive russian attacks. People sleep on metro platforms, hiding underground from missiles and drones. And metro workers try to move as quietly as possible - so they don’t wake those who finally managed to fall asleep.

This sago palm drenched in warm October sunshine is casting feathery shadows in my office today. A plant that outlived dinosaurs, Cycas Revoluta is an ode to survival. Grateful for new life in our mad timeline.🌻

Five palm fronds appeared weeks ago then gracefully unfurled to stand two feet tall in a big clay pot by the window.

This is a better epilogue to my January story about the private equity firm profiting off of ICE's cruelest flights than I could have ever possibly hoped for. CHICAGO: You went to the mat and protected (at a minimum!) thousands of immigrants from torture. Take a bow. prospect.org/2026/10/02/i...

Well deserved! I'm surprised the honour wasn't bestowed on him before this. I had the great pleasure of working for him once and he is as through and through a stellar human being as is often said of him by many. 🌟

Fairy handkerchiefs and brilliant decorations up in the hills today, but left them in place for others to pocket and enjoy. 🕸️🍂

Bottom image: The red, white and blue autumn colors of tiny lichen and leaves and a berry caught my eye, with a bend of yellowed grass in the center.

My five year old has the soul of Orson Welles. We were outside school and he 'put a kiss in my pocket for later.' Extremely touched by this, I gave him two back. He dug out the second one, THEATRICALLY CRUSHED IT IN HIS FIST and said 'one is enough.'

Exactly! 🌲...🦌...🌲 This wonderful old meme bears sharing.

A few feet ahead a white-tailed deer walks from right to left across a paved highway bordered by large pine trees. The meme states in large white letters: THINGS ARE NOT ALWAYS WHAT THEY SEEM. THE DEER ISN'T CROSSING THE ROAD, THE ROAD IS CROSSING THE FOREST.

Yes, printmaking is a labor of love and David Frazer's a master! I agree with you about people now doubting intricate art. Sadly, the image above is likely A.I. because it's not *of* tangled woods, and it's not on his website, yet prints *of* tangled woods are there. www.youtube.com/watch?v=azEZ...

This one and half year-old bald eagle flew right over me while I bobbed in the kayak, watching the coyotes. This coyote was just as taken by the spectacle as I was. 🌿🪶🦊

A large juvenile bald eagle flies in front of a forest. The eagle has a dark brown head and eyes, white underwing feathers and black feather tips.

A large coyote stands on a leaning limestone boulder and looks off to the right with great interest, tracking the flight of a bald eagle that was photographed in the previous image.
