From jurisdiction to political party, primary elections can look different for many reasons. It’s important to know what kind of primary your state will hold to be able to educate student voters ahead of your primary to ensure they’re registered, and know who and what will be on the ballot.

Why should students care about primary elections? Because they determine what choices appear on your ballot in November.

Think back: what’s a time someone you already trusted encouraged you to show up? A coach at practice, a teacher in class, a friend hyping an event, a neighbor reminding you about the block party. That same power works for civic life too. When people we already trust talk about voting, we listen.

🧵 Why is the #StudentVote important? Throughout history, students have been at the center of civil and voting rights movements, and today students are still the heart of our democracy – leading protests, standing up for civil rights, and in recent years, turning out in record numbers to vote.
