I know people will say "not everyone in red states voted for him." Yeah. But most of the people who voted did. The most engaged citizens of these states are fascists. The very least of their punishments should be shunning by international visitors until there's a generational demographic change.

Frankly I think states that voted for Trump should be considered tourism no-go zones for a few decades, no matter who the next presidents are. I don't trust populations that vote for an open fascist. They supported his hate-based campaign, they just don't like him now because he's hurting them.

I understand why they're doing this, but fuck them. These mayors can't guarantee the safety of their own citizens from ICE, and they sure as hell can't guarantee the safety of Canadian visitors. Also, North Dakota, where 2/3 of voters voted for Trump, wants foreigners to come back? Fuck them twice.

Palantir shifting from hiring only "Ivy or Ivy-equivalent" degrees to hiring only out of high school is an admission that "training" and "talent" were never factors at all. They were looking for packaging & prestige, and now they're looking for ignorance & impressionability.
Tech companies launching their own programs to train grads because they ‘can’t rely’ on Ivy Leagues
By Lydia Moynihan
Published Oct. 1, 2026, 6:00 a.m. ETAs the university system increasingly becomes a wildly expensive bastion of anti-Western sentiment, key figures in Silicon Valley are betting on alternatives to higher education. They argue that even the Ivy League is no longer producing the best candidates — nor are they even accepting some of the most qualified students.

“It used to be the case that you could rely on somebody who went to an Ivy or Ivy-equivalent to be top notch,” said Jordan Hirsch, who runs Palantir’s semester-long intensive Meritocracy Fellowship, which accepts high school graduates.“But that’s not the case anymore… we suspected that there was a lot of talent being missed.”

even if they did the homework they wouldn't be competitive, because for one, a tiny slice of the planet cannot outcompete most of the rest and two, sometimes you just have to accept that your team doesn't have the talent to compete for any length of time & the other teams do
