I mean it’s one train and its complex components and infrastructure, Michael. What could it cost?

I’ve thought so much about how our inability to process the trauma, grief, and moral complexity of Covid are part of our ongoing cultural rot, anger, and distrust. We mentally pigeonholed the initial flu pandemics too. Thanks for this.

If it’s $150 BEFORE the actual date/night out costs for the evening, we’re only going out for REALLY special reasons.

Sigh, and yet he’s still standing with a gun on 5th avenue while some San Diego R’s keep cheering
Quote from Guardian “But Trump supporters dismissed the uproar. Blake Marnell, who wears a brick-patterned suit to resemble Trump’s border wall, lives in San Diego and was at the rally in Nebraska. He said by phone on Tuesday: “I defend his comments absolutely. It is not inappropriate to mention something like that now because you have to take it in the context in which it is spoken. If you look at that context, it’s appropriate for a rally in which the president is addressing his base.”

The right is attacking everywhere, all at once, but in an explicit incrementalist flood-every-zone-see-what-sticks-push-from-there strategy (sports, bathrooms, IDs, kid healthcare, etc.) So it is incremental, but also fast AF. I’m still scared and broken, but also resolute with glimpses of a shift

Slash of Green @slashofgreen.bsky.social · 30/09/2026
The mass incremental erosion of rights is very real and also hits unevenly. Trans kids in blue states are being abandoned, and we’re holding families who already fled red states. But the IRL holding helps, as does the broader MAGA failures. The Jim Crow analogy feels more apt now than 2 yrs ago.

It’s fucking exhausting to be a member of any marginalized community. My Jewishness has taken a major backseat to other intersections with far more urgent existential threats and their cultural misunderstandings/propaganda. But if not us, then who? And if not now, when? (Maybe after a nap)

“It’s complicated” is an understatement. I admit upfront that I don’t have answers, but I’ve been distressed with the majority of the discourse, the censorship and info silos, the fascism in the US and Israel, “from the river to the sea.” and conflation across all sides of Israel with All Jews.

Slash of Green @slashofgreen.bsky.social · 30/09/2026
To me, if you’re a Jew who can’t see the evil being perpetrated in our name, at the fascism happening in Israel packaged as Jewish safety, it IS a moral litmus test. I don’t have answers for the region, but wiping Israel off the map isn’t it (that would also be existential and genocidal).

Slash of Green @slashofgreen.bsky.social · 30/09/2026
I’m not pro-Israel but I live with the weight of stochastic terror and understand why others believe a strong Jewish state is their answer for safety. And why otherwise progressive friends are fleeing from leftist and non-centrist D spaces because the antisemitism is vile and vocal right now.

We live in a v diverse city w lots of Jewish people (all races, denominations, political persuasions.) My kid found a swastika on their public school desk. We had a bomb threat targeting schools and active shooters in preschools. We all have guards at temples because the threat of violence is real.

If you're a Dem who thinks you'll gain something by going anti-trans, look at Gallup's "most important problem" and Fox News' "most important issue" polling and see where trans issues rank. Whoever told you going anti-trans is a savvy or necessary move spends too much time on X and should be fired.
Gallup polling. "LGBTQ rights" moves between 0 and 1%.Fox news polling. Wokeness/transgender issues at 0%.

In the link, I don’t see upfront focus on non-PUC approaches. The overlapping air quality (criteria pollutant) and water issues, plus emerging home value impacts, could use a centralized regulatory process to account for these myriad challenges.

Is Taco Bell growing their own lettuce? No. They get their lettuce from companies like Taylor Farms (that has 1/3 of the market *including hospitals*). This is deflection on the part of the federal government, which specifically cut funding for food safety screening/testing.

We just got residency visas elsewhere, as insurance. We’re not planning to leave - our community is amazing and we have other serious complications keeping us here. But we’re preparing to flee if needed, knowing it’s very possible that it may be needed. We live each day with grief and questions.

This article about @philweiser.bsky.social's win from the Denver Post starts with this anecdote. www.denverpost.com/2026/07/04/p...
When Stephanie Lang made up her mind to vote for Phil Weiser for governor, she wasn't
moved by campaign events or the barrage of ads for or against him.
It was a phone call that secured her support - and not even one that Lang received herself. She'd met someone at a May Day labor rally who had a transgender child. The otherwise stranger told Lang about calling the Colorado Attorney General's Office to express worry
about the Trump administration's rollback of protections for children like hers. Weiser — the elected attorney general since 2019 — responded, Lang said, by calling that
constituent personally to promise he would use his office to protect those rights.

Court packing isn't setting off a judicial legitimacy crisis. We are faced with a judicial legitimacy crisis that is already here, a court that half or more of the country has good reason to see as not just conservative but as enemies of the republic. "Too bad, accept it" isn't an answer that works.
