So far no actual evidence of this has been posted, as far as I can tell. The graph is inaccurate in that the decline it's showing is on Oct 13th-ish (measured by pixels), which is two days from now. The only real attempt to verify found that traffic for all German political parties declined. 1/2

OK, I've debunked this twice already today, and I got a deleted post and a block from it, so now I'm going to post directly on my timeline so it sticks. This article is clickbait garbage, and I'm embarrassed for @thedailybeast.bsky.social that an amateur can do this in 10 minutes.

Love this guy. Hard to see how he isn't the presumptive nominee for President unless he wants to stay in the Senate.

Trump was "involved" in Helene to the extent that he visited as a candidate and used it to criticize Biden/Harris. As President, he delayed recovery funding and proposed cuts to FEMA/NOAA funding of around $3b. He has also delayed or denied emergency funding to states who didn't vote for him.

How do I know Hegseth’s order to deny access to bases to members of Congress is about a cover up, not about safety? Because I asked for a military briefing at the embassy as a substitute and was told the policy prohibited military leaders in the region from even talking to me.

The Time interview with Trump is a master class in subjecting yourself to a stream of lies, lunacy, and insults with no correcting him, no calling out his crazy shit, nothing to show for it, nothing accomplished. It’s enabling, not journalism. They should die of shame. time.com/article/2026...

NYT has now independently corroborated all the major allegations against Susan Collins in the ProPublica report, including that investigators were prepared to move against her and then Trump intervened to shut it down. This put Trump in a position of exceptional and extortionate leverage over her.

Its not really fair to make a generalization based on a Democratic primary in one of the most Democratic states. This is a whole lot more difficult for candidates like James Talarico.

Part of the problem is that if you were to have the proper reaction to even 10% of this it would leave you unable to function normally. If nothing else you end up repressing stuff just because fully experiencing it is impossible to do all at once.

It's almost comical how much better Republicans are than Democrats when it comes to politics. It was entirely predictable that Platner would be forced to quit, handing a squishy seat to Collins at the last minute. Now they're going to hide McConnell until after the filing deadline.

ICE has violated almost 100 court orders. Let me say that another way. 100 times ICE was caught brazenly ignoring the law. 100 times a court told them to immediately stop. And 100 times they ignored the order. That's an out-of-control agency that shouldn't get another dime.

I'm perfectly happy that Trump did this. Democrats would be fine regardless of who did it, and now Republicans have permission to support it, too. If Biden or Obama did it, Trump would be undoing it.

I know a number of people who sat out 2024, and they all did so because they believed both parties are the same. I think those people need the occasional reminder that Trump is far worse than any other candidate would have been, and that maybe they should consider they were wrong last time.

Ten years ago today, in April 2016, the Boston Globe printed a satirical front page imagining a future Trump administration. The page was called "alarmist," "hyperbolic," "dystopian." But we’ve put up with so much since then it now looks like . . . a slow Thursday?
Boston Globe mock front page from April 9, 2016. Date says April 9, 2017, with giant headline “DEPORTATIONS TO BEGIN” and “Markets sink as trade war looms.”

I get it, but I also think its important that this type of insanity makes its way offline so normies can see it. Information needs to spread a lot for it to make that jump. Maybe if it happens enough, Republicans will start to feel the coming election more acutely.

Trump makes an incredibly crude, ignorant, insulting, and racist "joke" about Japan, with the prime minister of Japan sitting next to him. Guess where this is framed as "the latest example of Mr. Trump's penchant for tossing aside diplomatic norms."
“We didn’t tell anybody about it because we wanted surprise,” he said. “Who knows better about surprise than Japan, OK? Why didn’t you tell me about Pearl Harbor, OK? Right?”

There was some laughter from the officials and journalists gathered in the room. “You believe in surprise, I think, much more so than us,” he added.

As Mr. Trump spoke, Ms. Takaichi widened her eyes and appeared to take a deep breath. She kept her arms crossed in her lap and did not speak.

The remark was the latest example of Mr. Trump’s penchant for tossing aside diplomatic norms.
