Here's one for the person earlier this week who told me that the phrase "artificial intelligence" has never been used by video game devs to mean anything other than GenAI and LLMs.

I can't find a video of it, but it's the part near the start of Dougal and the Blue Cat where Dougal talks about being woken up in the night by a terrifying sound. This part scared me too, but not as much www.youtube.com/watch?v=nTJT...

I'm so tired of hearing from people who think that the term AI was newly created specifically to refer to ChatGPT

120

Mike Maynard @skullpiratemike.bsky.social · 03/10/2026

This isn't actually using GenAI at all, I'm assuming Capcom worded it this way to appease shareholders who aren't happy that they're not embracing AI, but the side effect is that now everyone who only read this headline and not the article thinks the next Resident Evil is being written by ChatGPT

Oh hell yes can't wait to get a nice hot cup of Tao 9/5 Halt to go with my yummy Super Chousedeburger at the new Fort Wayne Sonic might even swing by in the morning for a delicious sandwich of Fremch Toast Sticks, tho idk that Breakfast Murt and Cheese looks good too www.reddit.com/r/fortwayne/...

The menus at the new Fort Wayne Sonic list a Jo Jacon Boga Cheeseburger combo featuring a cheesy Baja papcerz wrdep cheesy parneson crispy trep trealdrop cal above a listing for a cup of coffee next to text reading Teo 9/5 Halt

The number 5 medium combo for $6.99 is a Super Chousedeburger

Yum the number 9 combo is for a Footlong Quarter Ponrit Coney hot dog

Cannot wait to try the number 13 breakfast combo for a Breakfast Murt and Cheese Breakfast Toaster, or the number 15 for Fremch Toast Sticks, which apparently has 490 calories per sandwich. The number 13 combo is for a Breakfast Murt and Cheese Breakfast Toaster

I put on the Nintendo Music Paper Mario soundtrack, and a bunch of the tracks have incorrect looping and the international version of the final boss music is missing. That's a shame.

"it's hurting the people that ensure their business makes money" really got me. Pokemon doesn't see a penny from the secondary market, all these guys do is make it harder for the product to reach its intended customer base

160

Mike Maynard @skullpiratemike.bsky.social · 21/09/2026

To be clear, they've had ads on all subscription tiers for over a year, they've just added language to clarify that. Probably because so many people (like me, for example) contacted customer service assuming the ads we were seeing were a bug.

I really hate that the Pokemon anime is now called "Pokemon the Series". It doesn't sound good, and it's not even descriptive. The video games are also a series. The manga is also a series. Just "Pokemon" was fine. Adding "the Series" to it sounds weirdly pretentious.

I liked the Mario Galaxy Movie. Sure, it's more about having fun than it is about having a meaningful plot, but, uh... that's Mario. And I mean that as a positive. That's what I think a faithful Super Mario movie *should* be

When OoT was first released it was intended as the beginning of the timeline, retelling the events in ALttP's backstory. Now that Skyward Sword has been placed before it, I wonder if they'll slip any nods to it in there, or just preserve it as standalone.

I loved Insomniac's Spider-Man, but I never had any interest in Wolverine because I just couldn't see how they could make it fun without changing what Wolverine's abilities are. And I guess now I know the answer is that neither could they.

I hate the trend towards video tutorials. I'm sure they're useful for some people, but for me it means watching something for 20 minutes that I could've read in 5, and every one of those minutes increases the chance I lose focus and have to jump back.
