i've followed this saga closely for years, so here's my 2 cents: 1. aaron/bsky aren't transphobic 2. a subgroup of trans folks + "allies" have habitually behaved anti-socially/toxically, targeting aaron for years, thus the high block rate 3. bsky is the best public network for trans people atm

Section 230 doesn't require neutrality. It allows companies to do moderation and filtering without incurring liability even if they aren't neutral. If they were neutral, they wouldn't have even needed Section 230 (albeit would be filled with spam, porn, off-topic, etc).

I'd view the way it's described in the original quote post's screenshot to be a very one-sided interpretation of it, more proclaiming victory for the side they support in very strong terms rather than an accurate description of what has been put out, at least as far as I can tell.

lol, this poor attorney. “Do you know what a quitclaim deed is?” “No.” “If I explain it, does that make sense?” “No.” “Okay, well if I tell you that this is a real thing that we use all the time, will you believe me?” “Gotta be real, that seems fake and made up.”
(MR. STEKETEE) As a historian, have you ever come in

contact with something called a quit claim deed?
A. No.
Q. Do you know what a quit claim deed is?
A. No.
If I told you that a quit claim deed was a deed from A to
B which relinquished whatever right A had in the property, but did not necessarily warrant that A had any right at all, would that have any meaning for you?
A. No.
l All right. Let me tell you, then, that there is such a thing as a quit claim deed, and that that is what it is; it's a deed from A to B in which A relinguishes whatever right he may have in a property without necessarily warranting that he has any right. All right? He may have none at all. Do you follow that?
A. I sell you a boat, whether I have one or not?
l. You sell me whatever right you have in the boat without
necessarily warranting to me you have any right at all, and there are many, many occasions when that kind of a deed is useful.
A.
Sounds pretty fraudulent to me.

And it's worth noting, yet again, the way I do every time this comes up, that overreaching laws purporting to cover an unpopular thing are never, EVER used against that unpopular thing in practice. They are used against marginalized people and disfavored speech.

Government Lawyers Say Trump Admin Can Use TikTok Again Because ‘Owned’ No Longer Means ‘Owned’
We spent a few years pointing out the ridiculousness of the whole "TikTok ban" moral panic, and the fact that all of the "concerns" magically melted away after Trump became president and then effectively gifted a controlling stake to some of his friends should raise some pretty big questions. However, most people seem to have accepted the new arrangement without much fuss — even though ByteDance still retains a 19.9% stake in the company, and users at no point…
