Calling all Saskies! AI data centres spread without adequate regulation in Canada. To build on our Treaty land, "they" must do it right or not at all. Cooperation between all levels of governance, proper regulatory systems and community benefits, or NO.

In #SK Scott Moe is bankrupting us to revitalize COAL production and allowing a new gas power plant (to be built adjacent to Regina, a migratory bird sanctuary, post secondary campuses, and a golf course) for a data centre. And he is pushing a nuclear future while actively suppressing renewables.

This is HUGE: In 2025, renewables were the LARGEST source of global energy supply growth, with solar delivering 71% of that rise. The energy system is tilting towards clean power. Now governments need to double down and turn this surge into a real break‑up with fossil fuels.

Unacceptable. I wrote an email to @mark-carney.bsky.social and @evansolomon.bsky.social. AI has no place in higher education.
Dear Prime Minister, dear Minister,

I am an assistant professor at a U15 university.

I saw the announcement for the AI for All strategy. I was disappointed to see that the Federal government is committed to: "Provide access to trusted AI agents for every post-secondary student — from the arts and commerce to science, technology, engineering and mathematics (STEM), and medicine." AI has no place in higher education. AI is ruining students' capacities to read, write and analyse. Reading and writing are essential to thinking, yet they are increasingly offloading these skills. I strongly reject the need to incorporate AI in higher education and urge you commit to speak to Canadian professors and other educators about the intellectual costs AI is causing.

Sincerely,

Dr. Joshua Shaw
