Who decided that "rock" music shouldn't use horns anymore? I mean Pink Floyd, the Stones, Bob Seger, Huey Lewis, the Beatles, even RHCP. Then nothing. Was there like a big supreme council meeting where it was agreed upon?

Any desktop operating system with a GUI that doesn't have a default file manager/explorer with "copy path" from a selected file is garbage. Absolutely worthless trash. It's 2026, not 1996

My favorite SharePoint Online List feature is after you scroll to render all 5000 rows and then use the search feature to find something, but it doesn't find any matches, it starts the rendering process all over again. It's like the day after every payday. Only with less fun.

Politicians should have to pass a basic govt literacy test to run for office. Like nurses, pilots, trades-people,etc. have to do. But at least 4th grade level. Constitution, branches, etc.

I have now asked Ms #Copilot 18 times to correct it's incorrect #PowerShell example for using [math]::Floor(). It still insists the correct syntax is: :Floor(). I'm not kidding.

I bought my last 30ft fatmax in 2020 when we moved into our house. It was $16.95, it wasn't on sale then either. I thought that was high then. Prices in 2026 are insane.

Just a friendly reminder to vendors who sell products with "service" in the name: More often than you'd expect, there are many junior techs who routinely replace "service" with "cervix", purely for entertainment purposes.

HR Bill 8800 (NDAA) section 219 is interesting. Not sure why a budget procurement bill spends so much text on defining procedures like sub-section (c) when that should (legally) be defined in a dept policy. Then again, it's all theater anyway.

I'm waiting for AI services to introduce a "sponsor break" soon. Get you into a deep rabbit hole and then pause to show an ad before your next prompt. "Funny you asked about kidney disease. Have you talked with your Dr about Kidneea?" After the 3 minute ad is done it tells you you're out of credits.

M365 Copilot is unreliable for anything coding related. You may disagree, but after fighting with it over a simple #powershell syntax question over 10 times, I can't depend on it. This is no. 6 of 10 attempts to get it to correct the response. It never did.

The dynamic on each social media platform should be dissected scientifically. BlueSky feels like karaoke night. X feels like karaoke night at 3 AM. Discord feels like a gamer's dorm room. Facebook feels like a Walmart checkout line. LinkedIn feels like a gym with selfie cameras.

TIL that a silly ASP/SQL web app I glued together to track software licensing while I worked at a [redacted] defense corp in 2009, to replace a big ugly shared spreadsheet for 10k users, is still in use today. I'm happy and sad, at the same time.

Looking for some #SQLConfirmation more than #SqlHelp, but when you take away a stats modification_counter number from the potential stats update threshold and get a negative number... Does that mean the stat wasn't evaluated in a query recently enough to get updated?

I did the math. Based on Labor Dept figures for May 2026, employed folks count about 134 million. To provide a $20/month AI subscription for each of them would cost about $32B per year. Compare that with the current federal budget and it seems pretty cheap.

I'll never understand why a city like Virginia Beach would name a road after a British admiral who burned it to the ground (when it was part of Norfolk). Pretty much the same as NYC naming a road Bin Laden Ave. Or Oklahoma City naming a road McVeigh Blvd. Humans are weird.
