"Arrow Breaking Apart" by Jason Shinder
While lovers sleep, I dig my nails into the earth,

holding up traffic. Just now a cloud has pulled up
while I was talking to the Emptiness

of the Universe and my voice plugged into the waves

at the bottom of the ocean…

Today was the first day in months that offered a cool breeze. Temps just touched 80, then retreated. Here's a collage I made in spring with the flowers from Swann's Way -- (hopefully) to see out the summer heat.
collage using colored paper with the names of flowers included in Proust's "Swann's Way," inside the covers of an old hardback book.

Happy labor day (USA). What's one of the oddest paid job you've had? Mine was probably as a reader for a medical professor at Rutgers, whose eyes were failing. I read him many academic texts, as well as Samuel Butler's "The Way of All Flesh."

pus around the eyes ,
sores that come and go with no explanation.
But we still believe we will come through it!

for #smallpoemsunday, "(a little voice...)" The confetti is punched mostly from a reproduction of one of Robert Delaunay's Eiffel Tower paintings. This is the 1st piece in "Hotel Almighty." Also here is García Lorca's "The Little Mute Boy," who is looking for his voice. @tomsnarsky.bsky.social
Collage erasure poem showing a dark buttoned man's jacket bursting with confetti. Text:

a little voice
was caught
in
a
Well Eiffel Tower by Robert DelaunayThe Little Mute Boy (translated by WS Merwin)

The little boy was looking for his voice.
(The king of the crickets had it.)
In a drop of water
the little boy was looking for his voice.

I do not want it for speaking with;
I will make a ring of it
so that he may wear my silence
on his little finger

In a drop of water
the little boy was looking for his voice.

(The captive voice, far away,
put on a cricket's clothes.)

“Luxury handbags filled with lists of men I wish I loved.” A poem by Morgan Parker.
REAL HOUSEWIFE CONSIDERS FEMINIST THEORY WHILE SKETCHING DESIGNS FOR HER HANDBAG LINE

Any woman knows
the math of luxury.
The handbag is a symbol:
my privilege
my man.
My man is plastic
money.
The purse is my uterus.
Who's holding who?
Luxury handbags will save us.
Luxury handbags
and leather mystique.
Luxury handbags filled
with lists of men
I wish I loved.
Tiny dogs piss on new trees.
Daughters go to college.
Suburbs are luxe and orange.
I join Twitter.
I break the plastic ceiling.
l am a privilege.
My pleasure
snakes at his feet.
I throw shade and sip tea.
My small plastic
mouth. My plastic neck.
I strip down to a woman.
What is a woman?
Women
are a problem with a name. Girl,
bye.
Power is money and my body
glistens.

The steward's English wasn't good but he was a sport. He kept coming out w/sentences Eng., German & Spanish simultaneously, like "Nuestro arrival gate es A-dreizehn." As the beverages rolled in he said "Ladies and Gentlemen we regret to tell you that on this flight the red wine has been delivered."

Eduardo Galeano, from 'The Book of Embraces'
On his deathbed, a man of the vineyards spoke into Marcela's ear. Before dying, he revealed his secret.
"The grape," he whispered, "is made of wine."
Marcela Perez-Silva told me this, and I thought: If the grape is made of wine, then perhaps we are the words that tell who we are.
