It’s just a weird quirk of English that the word ‘generation’ can mean both ‘a period of time’ and ‘creation’. It’s impossible to make that confusion in Japanese. It’s entirely the fault of journalists using the same secondary source and not checking the primary source.

I played Onimusha last night. Maxed out the graphics, enabled frame gen and it was 144fps. Disabled frame gen and it was… 144fps lol. Runs so well. On my Legion Go S I get a high enough base frame rate to make use of frame gen.

“it's nowhere near as big as I expected it to be.” That’s actually kinda worrying for me. As someone used to 8” Switch 2 and PC handheld, I worry the 5.89” screen will still feel very small. I put all handhelds in my backpack so too big isn’t an issue.

Ironically the fact that DLSS5 slop is proprietary means no game can be designed around it because games will have to be designed with upcoming consoles in mind, as well as non-Nvidia GPUs. So it can only ever be additive like Gameworks was.

Was recently given a little 14" Thinkpad with Intel 8th gen and only 8GB of *unupgradable* RAM. Installed Linux Mint Xfce on there and it absolutely flies. Crazy how older, lower powered machines can be revived just by installing a modern OS that isn't Windows.

This is just one thing but apparently the hardware decompression block in the PS5 causes issues with games where PS5 was the target platform. Developers often have to offload those tasks to free CPU cores with questionable outcomes (see Nixxes’ variable results with PS5 ports to PC).

I actually just use a 1TB Corsair external SSD, but it shouldn’t matter - it should support any USB as long as it uses the MiSTer folder structure. The MiSTer should prioritise the USB folder over SD
