Hey y'all, I hope you're having a nice holiday. I'm closing out this account, and I've refunded all commissions I owe in full. These commissions - and some of the friends I've made here - were a lifeline for me during some really difficult years. But, I want to move forward.

Oh yeah, Paw Day today. Oh AND micro may too, interesting. You know what that means 🎨: @sizebat.bsky.social and look, they're not even that small and are still struggling. You actual specks don't stand a chance.

Information for free meals for anyone fleeing LA and going south

Screencap from twitter:

Chef Andrew Gruel:
“Update: Anyone who has left LA and headed south. You are welcome at our restaurant, 16600 Pacific Coast Highway, 92649. We have a large parking lot, you can stay as long as you need and camp out. We will provide free meals for all of those affected. If anyone has any coordination in process for meals, supplies, etc for LA, reach out to me, we will provide as much food to deliver and arrange supplies as well.”

A reminder, ruminating on what happened in the past has shown to deepen anxiety . We need to acknowledge what happened, we don't have to be ok with it, but dwelling on it will not help. Instead fill that time to do things for you, here are some tools from Chatter by Ethan Kross (recommend readin)

This is the single most important advice any creative person needs to hear. There are of course factors such as financial insecurity or mental and physical impediments (spoons ≠ motivation even though people will tell you they are the same) but when you can, do, whether you feel inspired or not.

A big misconception is that you need to be motivated to get rolling.
You don't.
Research: Motivation often FOLLOWS action, not the other way around.
In Practice: You don't need to feel good to get going; you need to get going to give yourself a chance at feeling good.

So, BSky rolled out being able to turn off RPs and QRPs, but I noticed that in my accounts, RPs were turned off by default despite it not asking me to do that. Please check your settings! RPs are how we spread the word and reach new people on a platform with no algorithm!
