Shadow of Mordor won in a year that was pretty weak overall, and then Shadow of War was heavily set back by its pay to win loot crate bullshit, not to mention the critical reassessment of its themes and such. At least in my circles, the games have largely been forgotten.

Like. Make as much money as you can along the way. Ship anything that you can ship in a reasonable amount of time. Milk your current customers for more money. Sell off the studios you can. But the mission objective is "in two years, Xbox should not exist." Microsoft wants OUT.

For my part, in the early days of the Asha Sharma era (which I guess we're still in, but let's talk in relative terms), I assumed that the goal was to bring insanely unrealistic "efficiency" to Xbox that would do huge damage to it. That wasn't true. The goal from the start has been to END Xbox.

I have to disagree with people saying Physint is never coming out. Oh, Microsoft will dump it, no doubt. No shot it ships under them. But Kojima won’t give them the power to shut down the studio, so he’ll just shop it to another publisher.

Destiny is a cool idea that has literally always been mismanaged. And in fairness, it’s an incredibly hard idea to execute. The closest they’ve come have been moments like Taken King and Forsaken, but those still haven’t actually come close to the concept’s potential.

The thing is, as dumb a decision as it was, Bungie didn’t do the vaulting of Destiny 2 because it seemed like such a fun idea. It’s because they had a huge, bone-deep tech problem with the game’s growing size that they couldn’t figure out how to fix. So. How are you fixing that?
