Most people who know me for WAKASHU aren't yet familiar with my relationship with Brie. She is Shu Qi to my Hou Hsiao-Hsien, a true star. Y'all are yet to be blown away by her talent.

Couple of weeks before Cregger's RE came out they boasted about having a practical monster designed by ALIENS fx artist. that had me real excited but then like... WHERE was that in the movie? There was no identifiable FULLY practical big monster anywhere in the film

Stan Winston's original Predator face. To me this is the epitome of practical effects. I've never seen something quite so perfectly convincing as this anywhere else, rivaled only by the Xenomorph, but this still tops it to me. This just looks like a real fucking alien monster.

I'd also like to remind ppl that Cregger's RE did NOT break "the curse". It was broken, two years ago, by fucking SONIC 3, which is a DIRECT adaptation of Sonic Adventures 2 and managed to be a mainstream critical and box office success. This goes for anyone who thinks you can't directly adapt these

Sister Jill 🏳‍⚧ @sisterjill.bsky.social · 21/09/2026

"videogame movies shouldn't adapt anything from the source material" and "they should barely resemble it" becoming the universal one note takeaway from this godforsaken Resident Evil movie's success is painfully annoying

Dual-wielding, dutch angles, triple repeating takes, hard nighttime lighting, lightning as spotlights, extra backflips, inexplicable physics, church shootout, "a Stranger arrives". This is cinema. Long live John Woo
