While the digital world gets more “tokens this” and “credits that”, I’m happy keeping things old-school. 💜 210626
SirLich @sirlich.bsky.social · 20/09/2026Oh, I've heard! I was actually planning on skipping it, but the next one in the series isn't "out" yet. I'm listening to the audio book version in a foreign language, and the publisher is recording them in chronological order. I think King Rat is coming out later this year. 020

SirLich @sirlich.bsky.social · 08/09/2026It has no results on TinEye, which is surprising because it has artifacting consistent with something that's reposted once too many times. It's AI according to AI image detectors, but no SynthID. The dog is also the wrong scale. It's a medium sized breed shrunk down. Awning is incorrectly clear. 011

SirLich @sirlich.bsky.social · 18/08/2026Not sure if you saw the thread. It's data from Godot users in the 2026 survey. 000
SirLich @sirlich.bsky.social · 17/08/2026Technically more people are employed, but the percentage is down. I think Godot is growing much faster still in non-professional circles then in professional circles. 010

SirLich @sirlich.bsky.social · 17/08/2026Lore (from Epic) is the 2nd most used version control system (after git, git LFS), despite being released only a few months ago. It beats out SVN, SCM, and Perforce. 100
SirLich @sirlich.bsky.social · 17/08/2026Open source tools are spanking paid tools, for use alongside Godot. For example, blender has 72.4% share, compared to 1.3% for Maya. The most popular non open-source tool I could find was Photoshop, sitting at 11.9% 110
SirLich @sirlich.bsky.social · 17/08/2026Less than 8% of the community donates to Godot. People are generally positive about different revenue streams for Godot, with gov. grants being most negative. In fact, nearly as many people find gov. grants "Unacceptable" as there are individual contributors. 100
SirLich @sirlich.bsky.social · 17/08/2026People REALLY hate non-standard distribution platforms. Steam and Itch get a pass, everything else is treated negatively. The worst offenders are non-gaming platforms like Discord and Netflix. Interestingly enough, publishing to the *web* is desirable, but not to platforms like CrazyGames. 100
SirLich @sirlich.bsky.social · 17/08/2026Around 5% of the community uses Godot as an employee. That's actually slightly down from last year. There are more people who "Don't know what version control is" than are employed to use Godot. 200

SirLich @sirlich.bsky.social · 07/08/2026Here is the sprite sheet. Took very little effort in to draw in Krita. Dialing in the particle in Godot took much longer then drawing the sprite. Might have been better to do the whole thing in krita? I wanted the variation, which is why I designed it for a multi-particle system. 000
SirLich @sirlich.bsky.social · 07/08/2026Proud of this particle effect created for GMTK 2026! I'll throw the sprite sheet in the replies. I wish I knew how to make the particles appear on a ring, without some of the particles crossing over the center. Had to compensate by starting the particles at scale=0. #godot #krita #gmtk 110

SirLich @sirlich.bsky.social · 26/07/2026My prediction for GMTK (them: Count down) was going to be lots of rockets and bombs. But so far ... it's not paning out that way? This year I feel like the most common interpretation of the theme is "kinda ignored the theme". Huh. 010
SirLich @sirlich.bsky.social · 23/07/2026Anyone participating in GMTK 2026? I'm finding the theme a real drag. For me, the "countdown" is the moment BEFORE the action. Struggling to build a game within that framing. 030

They churned out some initial content, and are now back to "underlying systems", which is less flashy. Advice on socials is to wait until the game is more mature. 100
