Thank you!!! The discourse around game pass accounting makes my head explode sometimes.

Where's the games industry headed? Nowhere good, for the workers at least.

I'm still waiting for age to make me sentimental about Azle, TX but it hasn't hit yet. Your words give me hope though!

It's extremely readable and there are aspects to it that resonate with modern times like being manipulated by corps and feeling like life is an unwinnable game. It's very referential like Ready Player One but with better structure. There's always an immediate climax to keep you engaged.

That was pretty much the Dr. Strangelove sequel I hoped it would be. Really enjoyed it!

Just rewatched! There's nothing to not like. Tight writing, great performance, and the LANDSCAPES. Same micro village charm as The Frighteners, so good.

I'll be checking out Fire Emblem: Fortune's Weave until it's MOVIE TIME (6PM PT). This week we're watching X-Men movies for somewhat obvious reasons!

This is unfortunately not new behavior. Remember Cyberpunk? Most writers are sycophantic to their own audiences (or audiences they hope to gain) with little else guiding their critique. I've also learned that calling it out is just fodder for more windmill dunking.

I love the way Japanese commercials shoot food. There's always a ridiculously zoomed, pornographic shot of the food sloshing or plopping into place to show texture & firmness. 🤌

I guess it'll be REAL interesting to see this tug of war between budget and audience appeal play out all over again. This happened in the late 2000s too. Games were getting bigger and more expensive but also way simpler to broaden their appeal. Economic risk sands away meaningful texture.

Lawrence Sonntag @sirlarr.bsky.social · 10/09/2026

Real interesting reading these Wolverine reviews... I'd lamented that even Spider-Man was a baby game for babies in design and gameplay depth, but it sounds like Insomniac have pushed that even further. Complexity is a gradient, obviously. My tolerance is way different than most and I get that.
