#FireEmblem #FortunesWeave is out here rolling elements of all my favorite FE characters into Cai! We've got elements of Ike, Roy, and now they toss Robin into the mix! Not to mention the Luke Skywalker vibes under the surface. He's just the goodest farmboy ever. So glad I picked his path first.

Ike from Fire Emblem Path of Radiance and Fire Emblem Radiant

Roy from Fire Emblem Sword of Seals (aka Binding Blade).

Good to have a reminder every once in a while. It's easy to do, and the problem is likely to get worse. So make it a habit.

This one's a photo finish, since both are great. Double Dash had a much more interesting gimmick that still stands up to scrutiny, even today. Motion controls and track variety on MK Wii created a strong sense of novelty, though. If I had to pick...I think I'd go with Double Dash.

The early story twists in Cai's route in Fire Emblem: Fortune's Weave have been a real rollercoaster, and Zeno Robinson adds a youthful idealism to the character that stands in stark contrast to the other three protagonists in the best way possible. Ribera Winds for the win! Fanart is in progress!

See, Sam Altman already said the quiet part out loud. They want us ignorant as possible so we eventually have no choice but to pay for "intelligence" on a meter like a utility. They want to steal and aggressively monetize all human knowledge to a version of humanity that only knows helplessness.

As someone who frequently uses art, video editing, and live streaming applications, I've found that installing Nvidia's Studio Drivers have resulted in less crashes, making things feel more stable. You have to dig for them a bit on their website to find the specific ones for your GPU, though.

Twilight Princess is the best all-rounder. Nothing lacking in any particular area. Ocarina of Time is good, but is very much a product of its time. Skyward Sword is awesome if played as intended: standing up and fully engaged in the pretend swordplay. You will get winded at times tho 😄.

As long as you walk into it with an open mind, without expecting a mainline Star Fox experience whatsoever, you'll most likely enjoy it. My only caveat is that the final act felt rushed. Though I imagine Nintendo had more to do with than Rare.

This is why education in the Arts is so incredibly important. Observation, pattern recognition, empathy, cooperation, and an appreciation for the world around you all combine into an ability to better see things for what they are instead of being subject to the corporate power of suggestion.

SirCrossPad @sircrosspad.bsky.social · 08/09/2026

Solid proof that art direction always wins out over raw processing horsepower. Nintendo has had the right artistic intuition the entire time. Now, if only we could change their stance on ownership and DRM...🤔

SirCrossPad @sircrosspad.bsky.social · 05/09/2026

I would have them add a story/career mode complete with setpiece boss races, and a plethora of galaxy/star road themed tracks that expand out from Rainbow Road with connecting highways. Yes, that's a lot to ask but it's Nintendo's bestselling series aside from Pokemon. Make it happen!

After experiencing firsthand how damaging ads can be for my attention span for years, I dropped my iOS device for a Fairphone 6 running an alternative de-googled Android distro and Adblock on Firefox. It's amazing! The internet is actually usable again.

I concede I'm an enthusiast, but Switch 2 is for exclusives that are entirely on cart; Steam Deck is for indies purchased on GOG. Virtual Game Cards illegitimately just feel like Nintendo is trying to parent me, and as a 30+ adult I do not like it one bit. So done with DRM 😑.

With how long World was in development, it still baffles me that it didn't ship with a career/story mode. In addition returning to not having a proper battle mode, like MK8 on the Wii U, is a huge misstep. And the course blending gimmick was better achieved by Sonic Racing Crossworlds' portals.

020

SirCrossPad @sircrosspad.bsky.social · 04/09/2026

MK8Dx shipped more than 100 courses, loads of racers, solid online, and a Switch 2 edition that makes it that last tiny bit better. Between MKW and MK8Dx, which was more worth the $80 spent? I'm going with 8Dx. It focuses a lot more on what makes MK fun, and less on a frankly tacked-on open world.

SirCrossPad @sircrosspad.bsky.social · 04/09/2026

I was very much an adult when 8 landed on the WiiU and it was somewhat of a disappointment. Stuttering online servers, no battle mode, DLC felt like it should have been shipped with the final game, etc. 8 Deluxe fixed all that AND dropped a massive expansion out of left field. 1/2

Most of the titles that fall into these tropes were an entire universe better than the $400mil half-baked, live-service hero/extraction shooter slop Sony fans ended up with in the current generation. Even then, no less that 10 of them were cancelled before they even saw the light of day. 🙄

That’s because none of the NPCs in the newer games have any sense of individual character. Everyoe just says the same few generic cookie-cutter sentences. That ultimately results in the environment failing to feel like a living world. Why explore a sterile, repetitive “open world?

This is why I’m always recommending gog.com for PC players. No online ownership checks and a heavy emphasis on indies and classic titles. Really hoping the added Dreamlist feature will show more devs and publishers there’s a growing community of dedicated gamers there.

I’ve been saying this for years, even to the extent that Black and White has ruined every subsequent entry in the series for me. The bar was set so incredibly high, and then the 3D era has only fallen off more and more with each new mainline set of titles. Scarlet & Violet fell particularly flat.

I know many people are saying a Smash Bros movie would be a licensing nightmare, but they also underestimate the inevitable boost in sales for every franchise for which they choose to license a principle cast member. Every company wants Marvel levels of cultural gravity. A Smash movie is inevitable

A promo poster for the Super Mario Galaxy movie. Fox McCloud stands triumphantly in front of his Arwing starfighter, one foot elevated by a cube-shaped toolbox as he gazes confidently into the dramatic lighting of the sun dawning just out of frame. There’s a small cartoon monkey standing behind him, a curious expression on its face.

I fear we’re gonna get a lot of mileage out of this Barret meme.

A single panel comic of Barret Wallace from FF7 disgustedly gesturing to a screenshot from nvidia’s atrocious DLSS 5 slop showcase, showing a photo of what was once Grace Ashcroft from Resident Evil Requiem standing in a dark foggy street, but now is a generic yassified AI model standing in a flatly lit Instagram environment. Barret’s text box reads “We’re killin’ the planet for THIS shit?”.
