i feel this massively yeah, vyvanse + caffeine feels like imminent doom. genuinely when i find the ritual of beverages is important i will just drink decaf coffee, you can get nice beans for that. green tea is low enough caff that im usually ok without decaf.

Tim Curry and Dolly Parton have taught us not only that you should be bigger, weirder, gayer, and freakier, but also that those qualities are what people will love about you. The things that make you strange and amazing are the things that will resonate with other strange and amazing people

you win by learning to work on the verge of passing out and falling asleep the moment you get home.

i dont think i can really put into words how terrifying it is to have a body that i still don't entirely understand, with invisible and noodly conditions that can and will take me out, sudden unexplainable flareups, all of which are made worse by the stress it causes. how do you win!

100

i'm even struggling with this in my studio. admittedly, a lot of that is my own anxiety, but like, there's still overwhelming pressure from many angles, and in an indie context, i've literally actually become load bearing to the whole operation. it's the bus factor. if i disappear, things stop.

whatever industry you're in, whatever your skill, bona fides, demonstrable outcomes... if you're disabled, you'll always be made to feel like a liability. even among generally supportive colleagues, the outcomes come first, and the outcomes don't have room for any inconsistency

Hey gang, one of my incredibly ambitious students is passing around a survey for emerging gamemakers, looking to get some real data about the experience and channel it into a new event during MIGW for emerging folks. Would massively appreciate if you fill it out :) docs.google.com/forms/d/e/1F...

The Emerging Game Dev Experience

Hey friends! This is a survey to surface the truth of how emerging game developers like you and me experience the Australian Games Industry. The more details you are willing to share, the better this...

I was given this Dracula game by @siobhan.creature.love and unfortunately going by the blurb it might be the greatest Dracula game of all time. Ours doesn't even have any perilous riddles or unprecedented 3D characters ):

DRACULA
London, 1904. Seven years after defeating and destroying Dracula, Jonathan Harker finds out his wife Mina has fled to London to go to Transylvania, to the Earl's castle. What if Mina were back in the grip of evil? And what if Dracula were alive?

From the Borgo pass to the vampire's castle, you are in total immersion! Hunt down the Prince of Darkness in lavish settings. Chat with unprecedented quality 3D characters and be cautious: always watch 360° degrees around you! You are engaging in a fight against Dracula. It will be punctuated with clues and perilous riddles. Ask the 3D characters you meet for help, but above all, be careful about the female vampires and Dracula's henchmen!

Months of work, a lifetime of learning, but the Levelling The Playing Field 101 Courses program launches right now. Eight €40 courses launching 10 days apart, I aim to make the critical less-spoken parts of indie gamedev accessible away from expensive visa-locked hotel bars. courses.ramiismail.com

people might say "siobhan, how is dicot an immersive sim? it's 2d and doesn't have a single keypad in it!" to which i might say, our current featureset means it would take probably 10 or less lines of original code to make a plant that can steal items from you and use them

it's so common for traumatic experiences to lead to offputting tastes and yet ppl so often treat people who practice transgressive sexuality to reclaim/process/engage with their trauma as if they are actually perpetuating the trauma itself. its so ignorant and exhausting
