i wrote about this here, as well as some other history of the bill of rights as a concession to elites www.marxistunity.com/political-fr...
As Reconstruction wound down and southern landowners reasserted control over the levers of political power, the Supreme Court again weighed in on the applicability of the Bill of Rights to states in United States v.
Cruikshank (1876). This case involved the federal prosecution of white perpetrators of the Colfax massacre, where dozens of Black freedmen assembled to uphold Louisiana's disputed gubernatorial election were slaughtered. The Court ruled in favor of the murderers, holding that the right to free assembly "was not intended to limit the powers of the State governments in respect to their own citizens." It reiterated this limited view of the applicability of the Bill of Rights in Presser
v. Illinois (1886), where it upheld convictions of socialist militia members, arguing the Second Amendment did not prevent states from prohibiting their residents from forming militias.

notably, this protected states’ rights, not individual rights! slave states got to keep their state-approved white militias, but they still outlawed militias that represented any interests other than the ruling class

Despite Seattle's reputation as a trans haven, the University of Washington has reacted to escalating attacks on trans rights with silence — even after a trans student was murdered. But trans academic workers, unionized with UAW, are fighting back. Our latest, from @thefreeradical.org.

The Doug Fords and Nextdoor cranks will argue that the act of removing or delaying protected bike lanes doesn’t cost lives, you could just not bike if it’s so dangerous. caveat emptor. They basically want everyone to stop bicycling. That’s their safety strategy.

they’re censuring this judge because he dared to demonstrate in court that a cop was lying under oath
14. Thereafter, respondent announced that he had some clarification
questions and proceeded to question the witness at length about his encounter with
the defendant, including the witness's observations of an L-shaped object in the
defendant's crossbody bag.
15. During his questioning, respondent said that he wanted to conduct "a
little experiment" to help him "understand" the officer's "point of view" and that what he had "asked [his] security" to do was "kind of unprecedented" and that he
had "security check it out."
16. Respondent then said he had a personally licensed firearm that he was
going to place in a "Five Below" bag.' Respondent explained that he wanted the witness to describe how he could tell that there was a firearm in the bag by providing testimony about "what it is about the bag and [the] firearm in the bag
that gives off a distinction of it being a firearm."19. Throughout the colloquy between respondent and the witness, respondent repeatedly and untruthfully represented that there was a gun in the bag, inter alia, by saying he had put one in there, which he knew to be untrue, or
specifically making references to the gun being in the bag, which he also knew to be untrue. The witness repeatedly declined to say he could see a gun in the bag. At one point, in response to one of respondent's references to the bag containing a gun, the witness testified that he saw an L-shaped object in the bag, and that he could tell that the L-shaped object had "a predicament [sic] of a firearm," but he
would have to conduct a frisk to confirm that. The witness also stated that both the object and the contours of the bag as displayed by respondent in court were different than the ones during the street encounter at issue.
20. At the conclusion of his questioning, respondent revealed that he had put a stapler, not his gun, in the bag, and he told the witness, "I guess you what you identified is an L-shaped object, which is a Swingline Stapler."

i think the average american’s view of the constitution is Complicated. we associate the constitution with the civil liberties protections of the bill of rights, and those things are incredibly important! but the supreme court, electoral college, and senate are built to smother popular governance

yeahhhhh “there are still some things to learn from PUA” does not strike me as a very convincing “denial”
Are you teaching pickup artistry?
Pickup artistry is mostly antagonistic towards women - you learn a script to get her to do something she would not otherwise. While there are still some things to learn from PUA, we believe a more effective and long-lasting strategy is to work collaboratively with women, and to get laid with women who genuinely want to get laid with you. If you inspire true horniness within her, everyone wins
