The Pirate Treasure mod has been updated. It was one of the first mods I wrote, and had finally broken, so it was overdue for a rewrite. Wh

It's finally official. If you're an EA employee who wants to share your thoughts on the company's new owners, please do reach out. Happy to chat confidentially. DMs open. Email in bio. Signal (kerrblimey.43). Also happy to answer any questions *you* might have about speaking to press.

EA is now owned by Saudi Arabia and Donald Trump's son-in-law

The U.S. publisher has been taken private in a deal worth $55 billion.

MBS spent $55B on EA so he could pump up the ratings of the Saudi Pro League guys in Ultimate Team. I'm barely even joking I think this was a non-trivial motivation for the purchase

"saudi arabia owns EA" is going to be the headline you see basically everywhere for this one but "jared kushner is about to use EA as a vehicle for trump administration bribes" is equally relevant imo

The firm is fully owned by Jared Kushner and has a staff of approximately 20 people.[2][5] By 2024, the firm had returned no profits to its investors.[6] The firm has been controversial due to conflicts of interests arising from Kushner soliciting funds from Middle Eastern governments while also working as an envoy having direct and indirect dealings with those governments in his role in the second Trump administration.[7] According to reporting by Bloomberg News, investors in the firm do so with the expectation of influencing the Trump administration.[8]

I've added support for Royalty and Legacy features in this update, made changes to how ancestors are found and how some of the effects are applied, added Scandalous Ancestors and refactored the mod into separate .package files so that you can avoid errors due to recipes from packs you don't have.

Is this hopeless? Maybe. Do I support it? With my whole heart. The EA buyout is bad for players, bad for EA, and will not improve the reputation of Saudi Arabia's royal family in the slightest. youtu.be/4Ir2C6eeD4g?...

One of the things about people showing up to protest for the first time, that many, many armchair theorists don't grasp, is the effect of seeing what happens with your own eyes, then seeing how media covers it, and what is said ABOUT YOU by media and political personalities/office holders.
