Yesterday I handed back my keys @uni-graz.at . Today I'm ending an era of almost a decade @univie.ac.at -- 9.5 intense, productive, sad, upsetting, relieving, happy years. Thanks everyone! 111

Simon Plätzer @simonplaetzer.bsky.social · 06/07/2026There are few places which do not change, almost across decades. Places of which I have loads of good memories. sandbarmanchester.co.uk is one of them. Simon Plätzer @simonplaetzer.bsky.social · 24/06/2026I promised some updates ... I'm very happy to join TP1 @fak4unisiegen.bsky.social as a new professor for computational theoretical physics as of last week. I'll still stick around part time @uni-graz.at and @univie.ac.at for the better part of this year. Looking forward to a new exciting chapter! 020
Simon Plätzer @simonplaetzer.bsky.social · 24/06/2026Very important to do quantitative attribution of such events, though we're of course used to think in our statistical intuition (& I fully agree with you). I recently attended a brilliant talk by @frediotto.bsky.social on the subject, highly interesting & vital to convey to people & colleagues.convey.to 000
Simon Plätzer @simonplaetzer.bsky.social · 12/06/2026New things come, old things go, but it's always a bit sad 😔 ... this very likely wad the last regular one of my many, many flights between Vienna and Geneva. Now back from two great weeks at CERN, exciting stuff ahead from next week. Stay tuned 😉 010
Simon Plätzer @simonplaetzer.bsky.social · 01/06/2026Thanks a lot for the organization Chris & Eno. Looking forward to introduce people to event generators this morning. 010

Simon Plätzer @simonplaetzer.bsky.social · 15/04/2026Very happy to visit @lundsuniversitet.bsky.social as part of my sabbatical. Simon Plätzer @simonplaetzer.bsky.social · 09/11/2025It is always thrilling to come back to a place where one has spent quite some years of a life, even just for a day. Moin, Hamburg, and hello DESY. 010

Simon Plätzer @simonplaetzer.bsky.social · 24/08/2025MIAPbP was a great success, but quite exhausting after four weeks. To relax I'm now on to one of my favorite little getaways with some colleagues from Uni Wien ... guess how we travel back after visiting Bratislava 😉 000

Simon Plätzer @simonplaetzer.bsky.social · 10/08/2025The staff are totally stressed up as once again either fridges, the dishwasher or what not don't work, and the whole service is completely understaffed facing a full train so they can't serve on demand nor for those in the dining car (nor the first class). 000
Simon Plätzer @simonplaetzer.bsky.social · 10/08/2025I'm traveling a lot by train these days. And dining cars are really nice especially in the evenings and mornings.
