It's getting harder to be heard amidst the noise online, but here's a taste of what I do for a living. Please share with anyone you know who's getting married, or celebrating something (or really loves precipitation-related songs). Or maybe just share it because you think it's quite good? Thanks ❤️

Is it heresy to say that in our house we love Looshkin more than Bunny vs Monkey?!? This is the birthday card I got from my son last year.

Can anyone spare a few £££ to boost my flagging fundraising pot? I'm Walking 31 Miles in May for @dementiauk.bsky.social and whilst I'm clocking up miles nicely the total I've raised so far is embarrassingly small. Donations very gratefully received. Thanks x fundraise.dementiauk.org/fundraisers/...

Growing up I absolutely loved Anthony Buckeridge's "Jennings" novels. The main characters' subversion of school authority was genuinely thrilling. I mean, just look at this cover!!! 😂
Cover of The Trouble With Jennings by Anthony Buckeridge shows two schoolboys laughing as a male teacher struggles to control a hosepipe squirting water.

Daughter has GCSE mocks next week and is worried about anxiety creeping in while she waits for each exam to start. I joked about having a little magic spell or incantation she could repeat to herself. Anyway, inspired by Lady Macbeth's "Come mortal thoughts" speech I wrote this for her.
Poem printed to look like a very old document. Poem reads - AN INCANTATION FOR EXAMINATIONS.

Love this new #poem from my friend, Will Jessop. #poetry #PoemsOfBluesky
VALENTINE RETROSPECTIVE
Love life. Love life.
I do; I did; I promise.
Not enough, however. Not enough.
No, I do; I did; I'm sure.
Love is a part of life. Therefore love love.
I do; I did; I love the thing which is love.
The noun and the verb,
The subject and the object,
The being and the doing,
Confound me still.
Reviewing my labyrinth of
The possible, of the undone:
How many changes
Change the structure?
How many repairs
Make a new home?
Tenderness and failings,
Passions and shamings,
Probings and spasms,
Confound me still.
Such intent gazing,
At such images and blanks,
Can expand and disperse
The object and subject
Confounding me still.

So good! Her gift for elevating the ordinary is just wonderful. We had 'After the Lunch' as a reading at our wedding.
Poem by Wendy Cope entitled After the Lunch. On Waterloo Bridge, where we said our goodbyes, the weather conditions bring tears to my eyes. I wipe them away with a black woolly glove And try not to notice I've fallen in love. On Waterloo Bridge I am trying to think:
This is nothing. you're high on the charm and the drink.
But the juke-box inside me is playing a song
That says something different. And when was it wrong?
On Waterloo Bridge with the wind in my hair I am tempted to skip. You're a fool. I don't care. the head does its best but the heart is the boss-I admit it before I am halfway across.
