Earl Grey was our PM when this big tortoise was born. He's been there from the launch of earl grey right through to the popularisation of bubble tea, and I bet he's never tasted any of it

That sounds great. I'm going to keep an eye out for it - do you know if it's getting a wider release soon?

Another theory (admittedly based on nothing, just entirely speculative/hypothetical) is that it would be squeaky bum time now for any other clubs/execs who have partaken in dodgy deals and which city, who have little left to lose, might know about

It'll be interesting to see what it all means for the other clubs in the City franchise like Girona who are part-owned by Guardiola's brother, or Troyes who City bought Savinho from

Seems really surprising the Man City charges apparently weren't mentioned during their negotiations for new signings / contract renewals (Ornstein believes). Surely players' agents & lawyers asked for some sort of clause or insurance. Their recent splurge is one of the weird aspects of it all

The varied cast of dodgy characters attracted to football ownership shows how desperately it needed regulation. State ownership, especially by the worst kind of state or oligarch, multiclub ownership, loading with dubious cash, sportswashing, loading with debt, none should ever have been allowed

Well worth a watch. Who's behind the angry Facebook content that's helping to radicalise a load of white voters in the UK, US & Australia? (Or some of it at least - the video doesn't touch on hostile states) youtube.com/watch?v=zCvP...

Hundreds turn out to face police in Gosport after migrant boat fears - live local reporting worth reading. This is all funded from overseas, whipped up to divide us www.dailyecho.co.uk/news/2657097...
7:19 pm 22/09/26

Portsmouth residents Jo, 54, and Theresa, 51, said they decided to drive to Gosport after hearing about the potential landing.

Theresa said: "I'm struggling. Not just financially, but welcoming people in when we can't feed our own homeless is insulting.

"We have enough problems of our own.

"Our tax money isn't being spent on us, and somehow we can afford to put other people up in hotels."

[Image of 2 women holding a Union Jack between them outside a house. I would lay money on them being from the Portsmouth granny fash that Daniel Thomas was talking about when that poor bloke got accosted by him recently]8:07 pm 22/09/26

Hundreds of people are out in Gosport facing a police line.

Crowds of masked protesters are now confronting a police line to chants of "let them drown" sung by a child over a megaphone.8:30 pm 22/09/26
The group appears to be dispersing

8:29 pm 22/09/26

Toby, a Just Eat delivery driver, told the Daily Echo he was worried he would lose his job after the police barricade blocked his route.

He has now joined in with the protests.

Another protester is shouting "shame on you" at the police.

8:22 pm 22/09/26

One protester, who travelled from Brighton, told The Echo: "This is a question of national identity. Everywhere you go the immigrants have more than we have."

Worrying scenes in the Channel today, for all interested in asylum policy and maritime tactics. A small boat from Normandy spent more than 30 hours at sea. Those on board now on their 2nd rescue vessel as Border Force forced to play cat and mouse with far-right activists who have their own boat.

Yep. There's those little robots delivering shopping near us. Not quite sure of the benefit other than taking what was someone's job and doing it less well. And, as you say, losing a bit of human interaction.

I think we're at the point where we can incredibly comfortably say that your attitude towards Reform, Restore, MAGA, the AfD etc is how you'd have responded to fascism in the 1930s

That victimhood's also core to the way they radicalise many of their voters. Take "back" control, ie you've lost it, Make America Great "Again", ie it isn't anymore. Key message: you're a victim.

Adults in office jobs at least gained some post covid benefits, ie hybrid working, less formal dress etc, whereas it seems kids didn't 😕. Wonder if schools could shift with those times to something something a half day a week doing sport/cultural/workplace enrichment.

When the story of why humanity didn't stop climate change is written, it will feature front pages like this. Even as the skies blacken with climate change-induced wildfires, right wing media continue their relentless crusade against measures to tackle it.
